Good morning all! Father, we know that whatever You desire will be established by Your word. We know that Your desires are righteous and pure, they are the only thing that is perfect and true and they are without reproach. Thank You Lord for sharing Your desires with Your children that we might be the fulfilment of all that You have promised, Amen. Do you have desires this morning? What about God, what are His desires this morning?
Psalm 68
Psa 68:8 KJV – The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
When God shows up on the scene things are shaken to make room for what He’s about to pour out, even the biggest mountains in our life are moved when God moves in for His people.
Psa 68:9 KJV – Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.
The One and only God can fill every void in our life, this is how He will establish the promise He has made to us even though we appear to be at our weakest.
Psa 68:15 KJV – The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.
The High place where God dwells is LIKE the place you feel the strongest, it’s a height that most admire and see it as a strength.
Psa 68:16 KJV – Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.
Why is it on our way to what we think is a stronger hill we skip right by God’s hill, when His hill is the only hill He desires, in fact, God never leaves it.
Bottom line
What is this hill God dwells in and never leaves?
Psa 125:1 KJV – They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. You didn’t think it was an actual hill, did you? God is spirit, Zion is the only mountain you can find God. You know how you find Him? You TRUST Him!!! When you and I have a reliance on God in life, He dwells in that place…you experience the presence of God. And did you notice God actually desires to dwell in Zion, He desires to show up in your life when you trust Him. What do youthink God’s dropping on us?
Isa 45:8 KJV – Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it. God’s dropping heaven on you and I, and why? To bring forth salvation. Makes sense, when we trust God with our life we are saved. Can we be saved without a total reliance on God? I don’t think so. Unfortunately we skip right by Zion on our way to Bashan, what is Bashan?
Psa 22:12 KJV – Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. What are these STRONG Bulls that have me surrounded in Bashan? They are surrounding my mind with thoughts of stubbornness or pride, it’s the place in our mind where we think we don’t really need God right now. Now riddle me this, if the Lord is our Shepherd what do you suppose He’s looking for a Bull? Or a Lamb?
Isa 40:11 KJV – He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. God wants to feed His lambs, He is looking to GATHER us with His strength and carry us in His bosom…His heart, which is a place of peace. God, like any Father can only desire that which is good for His children…He desires to provide and protect His lambs.
Psa 128:5 KJV – The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. I would say the Lord gives us good reason to stay in Zion and never leave…it’s the only place we can see good ALL the days of our life…trust Him.
Point to Ponder
What are your desires? Psa 37:4 NIV – Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Be excited to have God in your life and everything that comes from your heart will lead you to Zion.
Let’s all desire God, In Him Phil
