Good morning all!
Father, we know that You alone are the Creator of the universe and all it holds. You are the perfect Maker of all of us, we have all been made in Your image and likeness which can be nothing short of perfection. Thank you Lord for the life You breathed into us, the words You’ve spoken and the love You’ve given, Amen.
Have you ever seen anything so perfect or been given something so precious when there was nothing to add to it? Do you suppose when God looks at you and if He thinks there’s anything to add?
Matthew 6
Mat 6:22 KJV – The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
That which gives me light is the eye: as long as the eye is single, my whole life is full of light.
Mat 6:23 KJV – But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
But if I look at life with more than one eye, I’m gonna have darkness in my life. And the light that I have IN me is gonna be dark, and that’s considered great darkness.
Mat 6:24 KJV – No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Nobody can live 2 lives: either you hate the one and love the other; or hold to the single life and despise the other. You can’t have it your way and God’s way.
Mat 6:25 KJV – Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Therefore I say, you really don’t have to worry in this life about what you desire or how you’re viewed. Your life is so much bigger than all that, are you going to limit God?
Mat 6:27 KJV – Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
Which of you by worrying about your life can add to what God’s given you?
Bottom line
This is such a beautiful passage of scripture that is full of God’s promise to us. And remember all His promises and covenants made with us…He won’t break, He can’t break. Sometimes we see His promises the way we view the promises we make with each other, right? Trouble comes along and what do we do? Pro 20:25 CSB – It is a trap for anyone to promise something rashly and later to reconsider his vows. Trouble comes and we reconsider our position on the vow we’ve made, we don’t like it anymore so we break it. Now, you can take your time when you make that commitment or do it in haste, either way it’s a trap if you break that promise. Remember God’s NOT carnal, His promises to us never fall short and never fail. Num 23:19 NIV – God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? Can someone say thank you Jesus? God doesn’t change His mind, who does? We do, but we’re supposed to change the way we think, that’s the point. God wants our eye to be single, what makes it evil? When I see anything other than Christ in me and just as important Christ in you, that’s when we have let darkness into our world and the light we have inside of us (Christ) is now in darkness. And when you’re in the darkness…your eye doesn’t work too well. Mat 5:29 KJV – And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. We can all spot offenses in life all day long if we want, but according to the word of God we should pluck that way of looking at people and situations and cast it from us. You know why we get offended? Not because of a wrong that might have been done to us, we get offended because we give thought to how we feel. But Jesus Christ just told us to take NO thought of our life, He didn’t say you couldn’t give thought to the life of others…you just shouldn’t worry about your own. You feel me? I mean seriously if the spirit of Christ dwells inside of us, what could we possibly add to it that would ever improve it? You can’t add anything to it, you and I are made in His likeness…we are complete and perfect. Why else would He tell you not to see anything other than Christ in each other, that would mean God failed and we have to add or fix something…crazy. Phl 3:15 KJV – Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. This is the difference between old fashion religion and living by faith, faith says perfection is placed inside of me and religion says we have to do something to accomplish perfection…now we’re looking to add to our stature…you can’t. The word says MANY are perfect NOT a few, and if you think otherwise what is God going to do? REVEAL what you don’t know yet. Remember, Genesis says God created the generations in six days…PLURAL…not just Adam and Eve, and then rested from ALL His work. I don’t know about you but that gives me comfort this morning, it tells me God has already made me complete and I’m not missing anything or in need of anything. And if I think otherwise, God will reveal what He’s already completed in us…He doesn’t reveal what’s NOT in us…maybe we should keep our eye single and do the same thing.
Point to Ponder
Does your light inside you have a voice? Gen 1:3 KJV – And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. These are the very first words spoken by God, what do you suppose the words of our light might sound like? I love you…I forgive you…there’s really nothing to add after that.
Let’s all live with a single heart, In Him Phil
