Good morning all!
Father, we know that You alone are the only sure thing in life. Your word declares that heaven and earth will pass but not Your word, Your promise. We thank You Lord that whatever we face today Your hand will always guide us through every circumstance, Amen. Have you ever said or thought, this is a sure thing only to discover later it wasn’t? Are you sure?
Isaiah 22
Isa 22:22 KJV – And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so, he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
I will give Him all the authority of heaven and earth; so, He can open a door that can’t be shut; and He will also shut a door that none will be able to open any more.
Isa 22:23 KJV – And I will fasten him [as] a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.
I will nail Him in a place for all to see, He will redefine the highest seat of honor in His Father’s house.
Isa 22:24 KJV – And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
And upon that nail will hang ALL the glory of His house, all the offspring, the ISSUE, all of the small, medium, and big cups.
Isa 22:25 KJV – In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that [was] upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken [it].
Then in the day the Lord of ALL has prepared, the nail He placed will be CUT down, and all that was on it will fall; and the BURDEN that was on it will be CUT off: this is a promise from God.
Bottom line
Before covid struck we were SURE of a lot of things that we’re not so sure of anymore, right? We were SURE we could go shopping without a mask on…we were sure we could send our kids to school…we were sure we could go to church on Sunday.
So, what happened to SURE? Here’s the problem with our “sure”, it’s defined by what we see and experience. That’s essentially what the Lord is telling us in this passage of scripture, He says remember everything you see, and experience is created by everything you DON’T see. So, what is more SURE to us, what’s seen or unseen? I believe God uses the radical things in my life to change my sure, and why does He have to change it? He tells us in verse 25, all that stuff hanging on that nail…my glory, my life, my issues small and big…it was a BURDEN. It’s the burdens you and I carry, and we don’t even know it. You see, the burdens in our life are things we think we’re sure of like a+b=c. “a” represents MY issue and “b” MY response and “c” MY solution. And don’t tell you haven’t used that formula yourself. Here’s the problem with our formula for life…there’s NO room for God. Here’s what it should look like, a+God=NO burden. I believe when we live life with that formula we can truly live without any burden, which is to say we will live by faith…the unseen. I’m SURE you can see that pattern here, right? The nail is Calvary, every sure thing you and I create in our mind hung upon that cross. Calvary itself turned our world upside down, Jesus closed the door on a world that’s based only on what’s seen and felt and opened a door to a new world…FAITH…the only sure place that guides our life free from burdens, free from issues, free from man’s glory in exchange for the glory of our Father. Doesn’t scripture declare without faith it’s IMPOSSIBLE for us to put a smile on God’s face? Let’s see if we can change our formula for life, to cut off what we see and we experience and add God to our formula…He’s the only true X factor, it shows up in every problem we face but we know the answer before the problem comes…X=God…the only answer to every problem we face…go ahead and add it to your equation, I promise it will put a smile on God’s face.
Point to Ponder
What’s the key on His shoulder? Isa 9:6 KJV – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Looks like it’s the KEY to life, whether earth or heaven governs our life it doesn’t matter Jesus holds the key.
Let’s all be sure of Christ alone, In Him Phil
