Good morning all!
Father, help us to see and understand that we truly are Your children. Touch our hearts today and help us to see just how precious we are to You, and nothing in heaven or earth could ever change that truth, Amen. Have you ever thought about that in the course of your day? I wonder what God thinks about me?
Psalm 8
Psa 8:3 KJV – When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
When I look out into the world, I’m truly amazed by all the beauty Your hands have created;
Psa 8:4 KJV – What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Who are we that you would consider us? Or son of man that You would care about us?
Psa 8:5 KJV – For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Yet You have made us just a little lower than angels, and actually made us Your crown jewel with glory and honor.
Psa 8:6 KJV – Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
You have given us complete authority and power in life, so we can walk amongst the clouds with You.
Bottom line
Maybe if you’re like me at some point you might have thought God didn’t think much at all about me, right? There are lots of reasons…too busy…I’m a nobody…not deserving…afraid…you get the picture. This is why scripture is so important, I think it’s just as important as the air we breathe, you know why? It will produce LIFE! Do you remember when all the fair weathered followers left Jesus, He asked the disciples if they would also reject Him.
Jhn 6:68 KJV – Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. This is why Jesus is the first place we should run not last, His words are eternal life…NOT temporary. I love the words of David here, he’s looking into a big and beautiful world and at first he feels completely lost in it all. But then God reminds him of his true place in the world, and what God considers His greatest and most important creation of all…YOU! Can’t we relate to that one? Life can appear so big at times, maybe even overwhelming for a lot of reasons. But God is always faithful, He won’t let us remain in that place as though we’re lost or have no real identity to Him. God has made us all a little LOWER than angels NOT less than. You know why He lowered us, right? Yeah so we can remind one another of God’s love and touch one another with His kindness. Is there anything greater? You want more proof?
Heb 13:2 NIV– Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. This is so powerful, the Greek word for hospitality means to show love. Don’t forget to show love to strangers, when you do that you have done so to angels. Isn’t God cool, the stranger is an angel. Now, it’s not the only one he sees as the angel, He just gives us emphasis that we are to SHOW LOVE to all…end of report. And how did God begin the verse? DO NOT FORGET…you know why? Because sometimes His crowning creation forgets the preach the greatest message of the gospel…SHOW LOVE…it’s NOT show business…it’s SHOW LOVE. You know how you show love? He tells us in verse 6, God has put all things under our feet…our walk…our lifestyle…the troubles or cares of this world will NOT stop us from showing love to others. Think about it for a second what power do you think God has given us? The power to worry and try to fix all of life’s problems or the power to love people through all of it anyway? You see a LIFE of faith…He does call us to a life and not just an hour on Sunday, will reach high above all the problems, worries and any pain of this world, that requires us to be at a higher level…hmm maybe that’s why were made like angels.
Psa 36:5 NLT – Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Let’s make sure our love never fails and our faith reaches higher than this world, then we can live as the angel He’s made us to be.
Point to Ponder
Does God think? Phl 4:8 KJV – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. These are the 8 characteristics God thinks about…FINALLY…don’t go backwards in our thinking, anything short of a GOOD report is old thinking.
