Good morning all!
Father, we know that You alone are the Maker of all things seen and unseen. Lord, we pray that today we would see the glory of Your work, the mystery of Your Mind and the beauty of Your face. Open the skies, remove the clouds and let Your Sun shine and make Your face known and felt by all today, Amen. Have you ever wished that? You look up at the skies and hope that you would see some evidence of God? Have you seen Him?
John 14
Jhn 14:7 KJV – If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
If you really knew what I’m all about you’d know My Father: come on already you do know Him, and you have SEEN Him.
Jhn 14:8 KJV – Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
Philip still not grasping the enormity of the situation said, okay then, show us the Father and that will be more than sufficient.
Jhn 14:9 KJV – Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
Jesus responds, you mean to tell Me I’ve been with you this whole time and you don’t know me, Philip? If you see Me then you’ve seen the Father, why are you asking to be shown the Father?
Jhn 14:10 KJV – Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Don’t you BELIEVE that I’m IN the Father, and the Father is in Me? The very words I speak are NOT mine, they are of the Father that DWELLS in Me, He does His work through Me.
Bottom line
I believe we all at some point or another in life want to experience the presence of God in our life, we would like to see physical evidence of the invisible God. I think we believe if we see Him we’ll have greater trust…greater faith…greater understanding…perhaps live a better life, right? Here’s the problem with that kind of thinking, it reinforces the need to see things rather than experience God. Listen, sure seeing Him would be good but NOT great. Our vision can only go so far and it will only capture the moment NOT eternity, what will?
2Co 5:7 KJV – For we walk by faith, not by sight: Sight is an external function, doesn’t mean it’s bad it just NOT eternal and faith is. And where does faith originate? God of course, but it’s internal…Jesus said God dwelled inside of Him…faith…the truth that guided His every step regardless of what He might have seen or experienced from others. Now Jesus said that God was in Him but doesn’t the word also declare that God is in heaven?
Psa 103:19 NIV – The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Come on now, God didn’t ESTABLISH His throne just to vacate it…it’s the very thing that makes Him sovereign…rules ALL. Isn’t it funny, the disciple Philip finds himself in the same spot saying, if we could just see the Father it would be more than sufficient. The truth is it wouldn’t be enough, we see stuff all the time and don’t believe it. You want proof in the natural? Do you see the speed limit signs posted? Do you follow them? Aha! This is the message from Jesus Christ, you’ve seen Me…you’ve seen the Father. Do you remember what the disciples did when Jesus left earth?
Act 1:11 NLT – “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!” Translation…too much standing around and looking and not enough doing. Remember, what Jesus told Philip after his response? The Father that dwells in me DOETH the works, it’s NOT about being seen it’s about DOING…this is a life of faith. While faith might be invisible on the inside of us, it should become visible on the outside of us…our lives. I think we should all pay closer attention to questions Jesus ask, their might be some real truth and insights for us.
Luk 18:8 KJV – I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Will He find faith in the earth? He will if we believe the Father that dwells inside us does the work, which is?
Gal 5:6 KJV – For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. When you and I are in Christ Jesus…meaning we live based on His beliefs and His convictions our faith does the works of love, you can do fleshly religious observations or not, they mean nothing to God anyway. What matters? Will God find faith in earth? I mean we know He’ll find it in heaven, that ain’t the question. He will find it in the earth when we start to really love one another, regardless of what we see or hear. Then we too can say if you’ve seen me you’ve seen my Father, never mind hearing about your love the world has got to SEE it…real faith.
Point to Ponder
Is your faith at work? Rom 13:10 KJV – Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Faith is never out to hurt anyone…it’s only out to love them just like the Father.
Let’s all be seen, In Him Phil
