Good morning all!
Father, we know that Your wisdom is eternal and can never change, Your throne is forever established in the heavens and holds all the power. We pray that You make Yourself known to Your children, let us experience the depths of Your love and the height of Your glory and the length of Your grace, Amen. Now, I believe every one of us have asked that question, if not directly to God than definitely in the back of our mind, how long?
Psalm 13
Psa 13:1 KJV – [[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
To the greatest Musician…God, a prayer from David. Just how long are You gonna forget me? Is it forever? How long are you gonna hide Your presence from me?
Psa 13:2 KJV – How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
How long will I take advice from myself, crying in my heart every day? How long are these enemies gonna over take me?
Psa 13:3 KJV – Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Please look at me and hear me, O Lord my God: enlighten my eyes, so I don’t sleep the sleep that has no life;
Psa 13:5 KJV – But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
But I do TRUST in Your mercy; my heart will rejoice in the salvation You provide.
Bottom line
Remember, if we can’t find God or think He’s hiding it’s NOT a problem with His proximity to us…it’s ours to Him. If you’re like me perhaps you have felt as though God has forgotten about you or perhaps He just don’t see you, right?
Isa 49:15 KJV – Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Impossible…God can never forget any of us, we are His sole purpose for being God almighty. David of course frustrated with his current situation and feels as though God is absent and is crying daily, why? Simple, whatever David was facing at the moment didn’t change so therefore God must be absent, right? He’s being a bit of a cry baby, however, he does come to his senses. He asked God to lighten his eyes…translation…I’m probably not seeing this moment through the eyes of faith. Think about it, when we think like that it’s as though we believe God has failed us. How do you suppose God feels about that? Isn’t that the opposite of trust?
Psa 138:8 KJV – The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands. What concerns you this morning? According to the word of God, He will perfect our concerns. You know why? God’s mercy endures forever. Tough times may be but so is God’s mercy, so what’s the difference between the two?
2Co 4:17 KJV – For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Hello…the affliction is only for a MOMENT His mercy is ETERNAL. Did you notice what the affliction was doing? It’s at work in us, it’s changing us a moment at a time.
How long?
Isa 6:11 KJV – Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate. Come on church is God faithful or what? Isaiah asked how long? And God answered…UNTIL there’s nobody living in those cities anymore. What cities?
Jde 1:7 KJV – Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. The cities of a like manner were given over to fornication, not what you might think…Esau was a fornicator, what made him a fornicator? He sold his birthright. What’s our birthright? Christ!!! When we live unto ourselves we sell out, we live a lesser life than God has planned for us. That’s why God wants us out of those cities…that lifestyle. What city should we live in?
Rev 21:2 KJV – And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Looks like a new city, it’s coming down from heaven so it must have another destination…perhaps earth? And did you see what John compares the new city to? A bride prepared for her husband, who do you suppose the bride is? Could it be the church? Is it possible the city isn’t an actual city and it’s you and I adorned for Jesus Christ?
Eph 5:31 KJV – For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Don’t go after the strange flesh…there’s only ONE flesh it’s your Husband Jesus Christ.
Point to Ponder- How long?
Gal 4:19 KJV – My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. Until we all live just like Christ.
Let’s all ask for eyes of faith, In Him Phil
