Good morning, all! Father, this morning we pray that You would pour out Your spirit on Your sons and daughters. May we feel the power of Your presence, and may we experience the fullness of Your joy, to know that no matter what we face today You are with us so we can smile because You are good, Amen.
Colossians 1
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
We also pray that you will be strengthened with all HIS wonderful power so you will have ALL the endurance and patience you need so you can keep smiling.
12 Giving thanks unto the Father which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Always thanking the Father, He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son:
For he has rescued us from a world of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins:
Who redeemed us from living in a world of darkness His blood and forgave our sins.
Bottom line
If we call ourselves Christians…one who lives like Christ…then we should be putting smiles on faces NOT wiping them off. I love how Paul puts it here in this passage, do we think the absence of a smile makes us like Christ? Did He say the kingdom is righteousness, peace and MISERABLE…oh it’s JOY. What do we think we’re going to hear when we live in the Father’s house? You know how much joy?
[1Pe 1:8 NIV] Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. Christians should be filled with so much joy it explodes out of them so much so it exceeds every expression of joy…translation…you can’t hide it! We have an inheritance from our Father, we share in His LIGHT…what is that? it’s called BRIGHTER days!!! He delivered us from darkness…misery, gloom, sadness, being upset, hopeless days and gave us entrance into His kingdom with all the rights and benefits of a son. Your Father doesn’t hold a grudge, He doesn’t see your sin, He sees the heir to His throne.
[Rev 3:21 KJV] To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. Now the only way you and I get to sit on that throne with Him…which is also known as the MERCY seat…you have to have a smile on your face. Isn’t that the priestly prayer? May the Lord make His face to shine upon you. We have a hard time seeing God smiling down on us, you know why? We’re GRUMPY so we think God is grumpy…as water answers the face…what we see is only a reflection of our own heart. I think Grumpy was one of the 7 dwarfs NOT a disciple of Jesus Christ-Ha! We should live like we know who our Father is, we should live with the strength that He has given us to live this life. Notice the strength Paul speaks about here, he said ALL patience and LONG suffering with joy…translation…when you have a bad day put a smile on your face anyway, you have the POWER to do so. I know we think we’re entitled to have a bad day and express it however we want, right? You can, however, you can’t sit on His throne. You know WHO sits on the throne with God? The OVERCOMER, we overcome the bad day and don’t let it get the best of us. If we do, then how can we sit on the throne which is designed to LOVE? Call me crazy but I think our bad days get in the way of us loving each other, smiling at each other, enjoying time with each other. Choose this day whom you will serve, the one that wakes up on the wrong side of the bed or the one that says this is the day that the Lord has made I will rejoice and be GLAD in it. No point in quoting these scriptures or singing about them on Sunday if we’re NOT going to live it, the just live by faith NOT feelings. This is why David said satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love so we may sing for joy. What if we began each day with a song and what if that song reflected God’s love for us, wouldn’t that be a great way to start our day?
[1Co 10:10 NIV] And do not grumble, as some of them did…You choose the day you’re going to have, you can sing or be like some who complain…if I were you I’d start singing it will lead to a brighter day!
Point to Ponder
How big is your smile? [Neh 8:10 NIV] …This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Guess it just depends on the size of YOUR God!
Let’s not disappoint our Father, smile. In Him Phil
