Good morning all!
Father, we know the world is experiencing circumstances we’ve never seen before. Help us to call on You, help us to find Your glory and show us the way to go, Amen. Have you ever been so confused that you just wanted someone to tell you what you needed to do? Just go.
Hosea 3
Hos 3:1 KJV – Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of [her] friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.
The Lord says Go love her, even though she may be found in adultery, I want you to love her like I love Israel, who has also been unfaithful and chased false gods for happiness and a life of excess.
Hos 3:2 KJV – So I bought her to me for fifteen [pieces] of silver, and [for] an homer of barley, and an half homer of barley:
So I bought her when nobody else would, the price was both precious and simple.
Hos 3:3 KJV – And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for [another] man: so [will] I also [be] for thee.
I told her this is for keeps, we will be together MANY days; you will not return to your old ways because I am for YOU!
Hos 3:5 KJV – Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.
This most unlikely relationship will be MY witness in the earth and Israel will no longer question God’s love for them, they will RETURN and SEEK Him, and will behold His goodness in the latter days.
Bottom line
Perhaps the greatest love story ever written if you ask me, however, is it strange? Absolutely. Does it make sense? Not a chance. Is it normal? Probably not by today’s standards. So, what makes it great? There’s no qualifier at all…just Go! God stands up and says, I am for you. Through the craziest of circumstances, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows and yet somehow, He finds us at our bottom and still proclaims His undying love for us, pays the price and is not willing to go another day without us. I believe when Hosea found Gomer, at some point she picked up her head to find him standing before her probably expecting nothing but instead got everything. Do you suppose if God was able to move on Hosea’s heart and give him the ability to love beyond human comprehension then maybe God can do the same?
Hos 11:9 NIV – I will not carry out my fierce anger, nor will I devastate Ephraim again. For I am God, and not a man–the Holy One among you. I will not come against their cities. God’s love will far exceed man, His love is perfect. Maybe Hosea is a picture of God showing us how to love, like Him? Maybe our love can become perfect?
1Jo 4:17 NLT – And as we live like God, our love grows more perfect. So, we will not be afraid on the day of crisis, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Do you suppose in what Hosea likely saw as his day of crisis he was able to live like God? Do you think his love for Gomer grew more perfect? Maybe this is how you and I live like Jesus here in this world? Confidence and love go hand in hand, it won’t make sense, but you will show the world what perfect love looks like…listen to God’s voice Go love…
Point to Ponder
How do you when you love like God? Pro 5:19 KJV – [Let her be as] the loving hind and pleasant roe…and be thou ravished always with her love. It’s called ALWAYS!
Let’s go love, In Him Phil
