Good morning all!
Father, we know that Your word is the truth that is above all truth. It can never bend, it can never break and it can never be wrong. Lord help us to know Your truth and give us the strength to walk in it every day of our life, Amen. Of course Colonel Jessup said we can’t handle the truth but that was a twisted version. God’s truth is for all which means if you can’t handle it, then it probably isn’t truth?
John 18
Jhn 18:35 KJV – Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
Pilate responds after Jesus asked him a question. Pilate was motivated by a lie from the church leaders and then continues the lie by asking, what did you do?
Jhn 18:36 KJV – Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
Jesus doesn’t respond to the question, it would only further the lie. He responds to the statement regarding “His own nation”, it is Not His kingdom…it’s heaven…faith.
Jhn 18:37 KJV – Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
Pilate still curious, well are you a king? Jesus of course king of kings, however, in His humility the only thing He is concerned with is His true purpose which is that he bear witness to the Truth and for EVERY one that lives this truth will hear the voice of God.
Jhn 18:38 KJV – Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.
The most profound question, what is TRUTH? He then addresses the church and it’s leaders and answers his own question…I find NO fault in Him at ALL!
Bottom line
Funny thing about truth, you don’t have to fight for it and you can’t kill it no matter how many lies are spoken. Think about it, whatever lies we might have spoken in the past did they endure? Did they produce any real change? Do they even matter anymore? That is the picture Jesus is showing us this morning, truth will always prevail and it is the only true WITNESS of you and I.
3Jo 1:3 KJV – For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. There is a deep truth that is inside of us that we are to walk in…live it. What do we live?
Rom 7:22 KJV – For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: What do you know? You have a man inside of you that considers it a DELIGHT to do God’s law…love God and love others…the only law that matters. I believe Jesus loved Pilate. How did He express that love? He didn’t give in to the lie, He didn’t argue with Pilate over it. In fact, He told Pilate the truth that I bear witness of is the same truth you have also. Jesus said, everyone that has this truth hears my voice. Who heard His voice? Pilate and all the church leaders that spoke the lies in the first place. You see, defending and arguing about the lies will only feed the lies…it’s not like we can turn them into a truth, that’s why you just leave them alone.
Isa 40:8 KJV – The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Whatever is not true in our life will wither and fade on its own just like a leaf on a tree, but God’s truth that is INSIDE of us that will STAND forever just like Jesus standing before Pilate. Were they successful killing TRUTH? My Bible says TRUTH walked out of that tomb. Where does truth come from?
Lev 26:19 KJV – And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: Truth comes from heaven and it’s iron, you can’t bend it and you can’t break it. Now it also comes from a place you can’t see…heaven…which is also a picture of faith. Heaven and iron is the same as truth and faith, they are the winning combination in this life.
2Ti 2:18 KJV – Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. This is the same warning Paul gave to Timothy, sometimes we don’t understand the truth and toss faith aside. Why? We say the resurrection doesn’t apply to me…to you…His death was our death and His resurrection our resurrection. When we don’t believe that truth we are making an error and then I abandon faith. Did Jesus ever abandon faith? Right, He can’t. So, what did He become a witness of? Well that is second part of the verse in Leviticus, His earth became brass…COMPASSION. I love this picture this morning, when your heaven is just like iron the witness of your life will be evident in the earth…brass…go shine it!
Point to Ponder
Do you heareth His voice? Rev 1:15 KJV – And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. I pray His word floods your soul and causes your life to look like the finest brass in the world.
Let’s all find the truth in each other, In Him Phil
