Good morning, all!
Father, we are desperate for You, we ask that You would create in us a pure heart and renew a right spirit Lord. Fan the fire within so that we could set the world on fire for You, to live a life full of passion and conviction for You, for Your love, for faith. We love You Lord and ask for Your presence to be with us today, Amen.
Revelation 3
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
So then because you are indifferent, and not hold or cold, I will spit you out of MY mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
You say, I’m rich and live comfortably and need NOTHING; but you have NO idea that your lifestyle has left you empty and without peace for you are really poor, blind and naked in the eyes of God.
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Listen to ME and buy gold tried with fire…true riches…white raiment to cover your nakedness and anoint your eyes and you will be healed from blindness and start to SEE goodness.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and live with the power your Lord and savior Jesus Christ has given you.
Bottom line
Have you ever tried to ride the fence on a certain issue or perhaps a belief? You know you’re not really committed one way or the other? One day you choose left and the other day it’s the right? I believe God’s telling us today that to live a life like that it will produce misery and sense of being lost because we are poor, blind and naked. Now in the previous verse God told us that we were rich, and we THINK we have need of nothing, how can we be both poor and rich at the same time? Well, that’s why we’re lukewarm. We are rich in the world and poor in the things of God, I mean if living by faith influences very little of our life how can we really be rich or full of joy? If you’re like me I ride the fence when try to love God and love the world at the same time. It don’t work.
[Gal 6:14 KJV] But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. We all have things that we allow to influence our life, influence the way we feel…however, this verse is encouraging us to NOT let the world influence us. In fact, because of Calvary our life and our priorities were changed forever. We shouldn’t let the cares of the world change who we are or how we live, it also says that we are crucified to the world…translation…the world has NO value to us, NO riches for us…righteousness, peace or joy…FAITH. This is why God says we are lukewarm, we trade a life of faith for the world. I mean really, how can serving God make us miserable? Blind? Naked? What caused Adam and Eve to be naked? They ate from the WRONG tree, let’s call it the world. You think the world will clothe you in righteousness? Not a chance! Jesus tells us to buy from Him gold tried in fire, buy white clothes and buy oil for our eyes. You know we can’t actually buy it right? But what if we’re willing to pay the price? What could we use to make that purchase? What if we gave Him our heart? What if we took Him at His word? What if we were committed to Him? To live a life like His? Would that be considered a buy in? Would He know the world is dead to us because we only listen to the voice of heaven? The sound of His spirit inside of us? To the sound of His word? When we buy gold tried in fire meaning, we been through some tough times, we know that MERCRY is forever so we’re NOT offended by others and choose to love them anyway. We have white garments, we know that we are clean because of the blood of Calvary and if we’re clean then so are our enemies. And we have the anointing covering our eyes so we can look at life through the lens of faith and NOT the world, we should see Christ in one another and if we do our anointing will be powerful enough to remove sin from our vision.
[Jhn 9:41 KJV] Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. Why do we still see sin? We’re blind to faith and our eyes are set on the cares of this world so we see just fine, we see sin. They need anointing oil to blind them to sin to look a little higher and see the power of the cross. So, what are we committed to looking at? Where do we place our truth?
[Col 3:2-3 NIV] Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. We should commit our minds, our thinking ABOVE on heaven, faith and NOT the world. We are to be born again, to be born of heaven where the world has NO influence, and we are ALL hidden in Christ. And if you and I are truly buried in Him there’s only one thing left to see…JESUS.
Point to Ponder
What about the power of the cross? [Heb 2:9 KJV] But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Jesus swallowed sin for EVERY MAN…NOTHING more powerful than that.
Let’s all get hot for Jesus, In Him Phil
