Good morning, all!
Father, we know that You are the only Creator and everything we have and know comes from You. Lord today we ask that You remove some things from our life that don’t declare Your glory, Your purpose, Your will. Your word declares you create a new heaven and new earth so then some things must be no more, thank You Lord for newness of life, Amen.
Isaiah 41
15 Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat [them] small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
Look carefully to Me and you will SEE real change, the mountains in your life you will chew them up and spit them out…they will be dust in the wind.
16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, [and] shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
You will fan them away in the wind, the storms will scatter them to the four corners of the world, and you will sing praises to the Lord and give glory to the Holy One.
17 [When] the poor and needy seek water, and [there is] none, [and] their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
And when you are empty and desperately seek water because there is none and you have exhausted your search, I the Lord will NOW hear you, the God of Israel will NOT abandon you.
18 I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
As evidence of My presence, I will open rivers in HIGH places and fountains in the middle of your valley, I will make your dry season a pool and your dry places springs.
Bottom line
Isaiah has some real colorful passages that really help illustrate how God works in our life and remember He loves us so the images should produce peace, joy and love…if NOT, you have the wrong understanding of God and His word. In this passage God is creating a giant shredder that can chew up mountains, they get chopped up so small that a wind blows them away never to be seen again. Do you have a mountain in your life you’d like to see disappear? What might that mountain look like? Fear, worry, doubt and some are bigger than others, the mountain I believe He’s speaking of here is really big it’s called…REGRET!!! You say we all have regrets, perhaps? But what if God doesn’t want us to live in regret? What if He wants us to take another look? Is that possible? Doesn’t scripture declare that God will make ALL things new? When I look at my own regrets, they have one thing in common…they’re OLD, they are found in my yesterdays, NOT my tomorrow. Can we live in victory if we carry around regrets?
[Isa 5:18 KJV] Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope. Here Isaiah tells us when we drag our regrets around with us it’s actually a sin, that’s why he starts with woe…the Hebrew word means to lament in misery. If we drag our regrets around with us, you can’t live in victory and feel miserable at the same time. Now if you’re like me you might look at your yesterdays and say there are some things I would NOT do again, and that’s okay but here is the truth regarding some of our yesterdays. God is aware of every moment in our life but here’s what I see when I read this passage, He’s looking for us to change the WHY for WHAT. Regret says WHY, God says wrong question instead ask WHAT? The call is for us to repent NOT regret, repent says WHAT now Lord? Change me, create in me a clean heart and steadfast spirit. Repent believes God can CHANGE while regrets say you CAN’T. And if we’re honest regret is a form of bitterness which really comes from a selfish position, it silently accuses our Creator of blowing it or NOT believing He can make ALL things new. Which is it? When I look at David’s life with natural eyes it was a total disaster, he commits adultery, his wife thinks he’s an idiot, his kids hate him and the cherry on top, his father in-law hates him so much he tries to kill him. Now what did God see?
[Act 13:22 KJV] And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the [son] of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. God said, that’s my boy and he has a HEART just like me…wow! You see David would repent NOT run around with regret and then more importantly he brought his request to God, mess and all. Now if you’re like me you want to put your best foot forward when speaking to God, serving God and so when I have a mess, I avoid Him, you feel me? But if we avoid God, can we live in victory? Can we have peace and joy? We fail before we start. Now did you notice, what did fail in this passage? Our TONGUE. We all need our tongue to fail. It should FAIL to say things like you can’t, don’t matter, too late, too bad, not enough, don’t deserve it, my fault, don’t care…we can keep going, how do you think it became a mountain? Our tongue will run dry when we truly look to God, when our hearts cry is change me Lord and make me more like you. We should always have an unquenchable thirst for God, His truth, His kingdom, for growing in our faith. Did you notice the river God provided to quench our dry souls? It came from the HIGH place, the highest place I know of is HEAVEN…it is FAITH!!! Faith says I will chew up all regrets and BELIEVE God will make ALL things new, He will flood my soul with rivers of living water so that all who come may drink freely.
Point to Ponder
How do you thresh the mountain? [Mic 4:13 KJV] Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: The first thing we have do is abandon reason and logic and ARISE in faith, we find our true strength in TRUTH and walk in MERCY and that combo will beat down every mountain…go live it.
Let’s all chew up regrets with mercy, In Him Phil
