Good morning all!
Father, we know there is only One True God and no matter what we think or believe we can’t change that truth. You alone are the maker of all things and You alone are worthy of praise, today let us grow stronger with that truth and declare that life is good because You are True, Amen. Have you ever heard the scripture verse, let God be true and every man a liar? You know God’s not calling His children liars, right? What He’s saying is all our doubts, fears, logic, emotions they deceive us, they lie to us in those moments so let God be True!
Isaiah 46
Isa 46:1 KJV – Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages [were] heavy loaden; [they are] a burden to the weary [beast].
The idols Bel & Nebo have to be carried on horses, why do you weigh down your carriages; they are nothing more than a weary burden.
Isa 46:2 KJV – They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.
They’re weak and lazy falling down, they can’t help you for they too are held captive.
Isa 46:3 KJV – Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne [by me] from the belly, which are carried from the womb:
Listen to Me with intention, My church, the ones that I’ve chosen, you have life because of ME, and I have carried you from the time you were born.
Isa 46:4 KJV – And [even] to [your] old age I [am] he; and [even] to hoar hairs will I carry [you]: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver [you].
And even as you mature, I AM; all the way up to the grey hair on your head I will still be carrying you: I created, I will handle the load, I will carry and set you free.
Bottom line
Sometimes the skeptic in me says how do I know what God says is true?
Num 23:19 KJV – God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? And there you have it…He’s NOT a man. I love the last part of the verse; shall HE not make good? Good on what? PROMISES!!! This passage in Isaiah God has just freed the Israelites from captivity in Babylon, He made good on His promise and they are heading back to Jerusalem and what’s the first thing they do? They begin to pack up the Babylonian idols and take them with them, like they belong to them. And what are these 2 idols we pack up on our cart? Bel and Nebo…they are pollution and pride. We pollute the things of God when we give them the same weight or priority as the things of the world. As though the God of the universe is on equal footing with anything man can say or do, it’s like God is on the life’s menu as a la carte item and we treat Him no different than any other part of our life…what will you choose? God or whatever else is on our list, we have polluted God’s name. Who is God’s equal? When life doesn’t quite go the way, we think it should we usually question God or say He failed us, we have now just made God our equal…He’s NOT. What if our life failures are nothing more than the opportunity for our God to carry us? Doesn’t scripture also say that?
Isa 40:30 NIV – Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. God Himself says we will fall so maybe it’s not necessarily failure on our part but sovereignty on His. Are you tired and weary this morning? This is where I think the other idol creeps in…Nebo…pride. No, I’m not weak…I don’t need your help…I don’t want your help. Have you ever thought that about God? I don’t want His help. We might not speak those words, but our actions might actually speak for us. Pride can be absolutely silent and yet be the loudest thing speaking in our lives, it will always oppose God and often we’re not aware. We might even be tempted to think a little bit of Pride is needed or perhaps a good thing, after all it gives me strength.
Psa 22:26 KJV – The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live forever. You want truth this morning? The meek are SATISFIED, they PRAISE God and they LIVE forever. The definition of meek is the ABSENCE of pride. So, what does pride produce? The opposite, you are NOT satisfied in life, you DON’T praise and you AIN’T gonna live forever…I guess that’s why God considers that idol a burden on your carriage and remember it can’t save you! In the greatest sermon ever given didn’t Jesus say the meek shall inherit the earth…either you got the world, or it has you, depending on who has who will determine who has the victory.
Rev 17:14 NIV – They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings–and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers. Remember the LAMB gets the victory in life NOT the lion, the LAMB is chosen by God and considered faithful NOT the lion. You know why? My sheep KNOW my voice NOT the world, listen to the One True God He never loses!
Point to Ponder
Whom will you serve? Rom 1:25 NIV – They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen. I pray we don’t exchange God’s truth for our truth, one’s a lie and the other eternal…pick the one that will last forever.
Let’s all serve the One True God, In Him Phil
