Good morning, all!
Father, we know that You conquered sin and death and nothing in this life can hold us down. You have shown us the way to live life, to walk in victory and defeat every sin that so easily besets us. We know that a life without You is empty, fruitless and powerless so give us this day our daily bread and we will have more than enough to live as Your child, Amen.
Matthew 12
18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
Look carefully at My servant that I picked and My bride in whom My heart skips a beat; I will put MY spirit within him, and he will SHOW judgment to the heathen.
19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
He will NOT fight and argue, neither cry NOT fair; and NO man will hear him complain in the streets.
20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
A bruised reed He will NOT break and a glowing amber He will NOT put out, until He sends forth judgment that will produce victory in your life.
21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
And His name…Lord of all shall the gentiles…those without true understanding will be changed and Trust God.
Bottom line
If you’re like me, sometimes when life gets busy, I forget that God has chosen us and has an assignment for us and that’s what this passage is calling out. The real question is do we understand the assignment? Maybe the thought that the Creator of the universe has an assignment for us might be intimidating? This passage makes it pretty clear to me, God wants us to SHOW the gentiles…the heathen nation TRUE justice. Now listen I grew up in church the son of a preacher and said the sinner’s prayer over a thousand times and you know what? Sometimes I’m the heathen nation…I lack true understanding, and I forget the assignment. The assignment isn’t to get saved and live in a bubble and become impervious to trouble or heartache-Ha!
[Act 14:22 NLT] They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God. Sorry to pop your bubble but the only way into God’s kingdom is by MANY hardships, this is why we are to encourage one another to CONTINUE in the FAITH…this is the assignment…if you live without faith, then you clearly didn’t understand the assignment. How do you think the reed got bruised and the candle was left smoldering? It was caused by the many hardships that we face but what happens after the many hardships? VICTORY!!! Now did you notice how the servant lives his/her life? NO striving…fight with people, will NOT cry…say life’s NOT fair…NEITHER will any man hear his voice in the street…he’s NOT running around complaining about everything and everyone. So how do we SHOW judgment to gentiles? According to scripture it is the very thing that leads to us living in victory. Probably the opposite of living a defeated life, right? What does defeat look like?
[1Co 6:7 NIV] The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? A defeated life will cause division, it takes people to court because they believe they’ve been offended and somehow are owed something…isn’t that most of the world? Now I know your situation is different because you’re RIGHT but God’s NOT looking for us to be right…He’s looking for us to have faith. So, if we’re NOT suppose to take people to court, what’s the answer? FORGIVE THEM!!! What did you think a victorious life was going to look like? Scripture says that life and death is in the power of the tongue, we can produce life or death by the way we speak to one another. What might death sound like? I don’t love you, I don’t forgive you…it’s the opposite of the words of Christ, didn’t he say the words He spoke were LIFE? Do you have the victory? Have you overcome many hardships? Or did the hardships overcome you? Now the beloved, the bride of Christ…US…He said His soul was well PLEASED…you mean God saw something in you and I that pleased Him? What do you suppose that is?
[Pro 16:7 KJV] 7 When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Hmm…it appears God is pleased when we are at peace with our enemies and how might one accomplish this amazing feat? Could it be love? Could it be forgiveness? What will you pursue?
[Heb 12:14 KJV] Follow peace with all [men], and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Would you like to see God? Then pursue peace with ALL men…your vision will be much improved.
Point to Ponder
Do you have victory? [Col 3:13 NLT] Make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive anyone who offends you.
Let’s all live in Victory, In Him Phil
