Good morning, all!
Father, we know that You wait on Your children through many seasons, You waited forty years for the children of Israel to enter the promise land. Help us Lord to wait on You, to wait when things don’t make sense, to wait when it’s hard and to wait until we hear Your voice, Amen. Are you waiting?
Psalm 37
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Be still and trust God, wait without reservation for Him: don’t be worried about what others have as a result of faulty actions.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
For they will be cut off: but those who wait upon God will inherit the earth.
34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see [it].
WAIT on the Lord, and live life by faith and He shall raise you up to inherit His promise: and while others may fail to see God’s goodness, you will not.
37 Mark the perfect [man] and behold the upright: for the end of [that] man [is] peace.
Take note of the perfect man and the upright; for their life is lived in peace.
Bottom line
Interesting don’t you think…what does God consider the perfect man when all is said and done? Wealth? Stature? Wisdom? NO…NO…NO…it’s PEACE. Can you have salvation without peace? If that’s what God calls a “perfect man” then we would have to expect salvation must be part of the perfect man, right? How could we be perfect without salvation?
[Heb 11:31 KJV] By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. What saved Rahab the harlot? She had faith and RECEIVED the spies…they would have also been considered the enemy since she was a Canaanite and not from one of the tribes of Israel. How did she receive them? PEACE…what a beautiful picture this morning, she accepted someone that didn’t look, or sound like her. And likewise the spies accepted the harlot, in fact, because of her kindness towards them they saved her and her whole family. So, why would God save Rahab the harlot? Did He have a greater plan than maybe even Rahab or the spies realized? But of course, God does nothing randomly everything God does has divine purpose…Rahab would marry Salmon from the tribe of Judah, and they would have a son named Boaz who would become the grandfather of King David…yes, Rahab is in the lineage of Jesus Christ. So did Rahab wait on the Lord? I believe so, I think she was trapped in that city and perhaps trapped in that lifestyle but God in mercy sent the two spies to her house according to scripture she had faith…she believed that God would save her. Waiting goes hand in hand with faith, it is the nature and character of God…does God wait? Why would the all-powerful and all-knowing creator of the universe wait?
[Isa 30:18 KJV] And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD [is] a God of judgment: blessed [are] all they that wait for him. The Lord waits on us, why? Because God forming the Christ in us is not done overnight, it takes time. He also tells us why in this verse…so that He may have MERCY upon YOU! Maybe like the mercy He showed towards Rahab? Not only did He save Rahab, He gave her a new life…it was filled with promise and peace. We wait for God’s judgment in life and not just once, but whenever we are in need of mercy and His judgment is peace NOT strife, NOT worry. At some point, strife, envy and fighting must end because it has no place in God’s kingdom so everything God reveals to us is with that end in mind. What’s the end?
[Isa 9:7 KJV] Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. God’s gov’t which is faith and peace there is NO end, what does end? Everything else. Did you notice who establishes this kingdom and who’s passionate enough to complete it? The Lord of hosts…it’s another what of saying the One that created the world. Waiting on God is the safest and securest place we can live our life, His plan for peace will prevail and His kingdom has no end in sight…just wait and see!
Point to Ponder
Why does God want us to wait? [Psa 27:14 KJV] Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. So He can make us courageous and strong…no other way to live.
Let’s all wait for His mercy, In Him Phil
