Good morning All!
Father, we know You are bigger than any problem, bigger than any pandemic and bigger than any stock market fall. We pray the world would get a glimpse of just how big You are, and that they know there is no place Your hand can’t reach, Amen. Everyone has there idea of big, what does God consider big?
Psalm 36
1 [[To the chief Musician, [A Psalm] of David the servant of the LORD.]] The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, [that there is] no fear of God before his eyes.
King David is the writer, where was the wicked? He within MY heart, what made him wicked? He didn’t SEE God.
3 The words of his mouth [are] iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, [and] to do good.
Now David’s mouth is running amuck, he’s writing checks his body can’t cash…
4 He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way [that is] not good; he abhorreth not evil.
He’s devising his own plans and determined to do it; leaving no room for God.
5 Thy mercy, O LORD, [is] in the heavens; [and] thy faithfulness [reacheth] unto the clouds.
But mercy rises high enough to reach heaven; and His faith is so big it reaches the clouds.
6 Thy righteousness [is] like the great mountains; thy judgments [are] a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.
His righteousness is a GREAT mountain for all to see, and His justice reaches the deepest places; I know Lord you preserve man and beast.
Bottom line
I believe a life of faith shouldn’t be surprised by what it sees, I believe the surprise should come from what we don’t see. Look at how David opens this passage, where did he say the wicked was? In HIS heart. And what was the sin? He didn’t see God in his life. What’s worse than the absence of God from our life? Most folks define that as HELL. I don’t think there’s anything worse, you know why? It screams hopelessness. Remember, David was a man after God’s own heart. What does the heart of God see?
[Psa 118:1 KJV] 1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: because his mercy [endureth] for ever. The heart of God will always SEE forgiveness, you know why? WE GIVE IT! When life appears to spiral out of control we have a tendency to lose sight of God in those moments, and that’s when we devise a response in our way and NOT His way…His way is mercy. You see for all the difficulty David faced he never saw the enemy outside of himself, his good friend Saul tried to kill him, his beautiful wife Michal thought David was a fool and his son Absalom completely rejected his father and wished he was dead. David didn’t see them as his enemy, he saw them as the very people he needed to embrace and love.
[2Sa 22:1 KJV] And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day [that] the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: Again David said ALL enemies and Saul, the person in your life that might cause you heartache is NOT your enemy. Here’s what I believe, Saul, Michal and Absalom were able to witness something much greater than the circumstance…they saw David’s mercy and his faith and his righteousness. There was so much of it in the life he lived it became mountains that reached the heaven and the clouds, that’s what made David righteous…it was his ability to NOT take afflictions personally, but rather the opportunity to hold on to faith and then love the very people that rejected him. Can you see the mountain in your life? Does it reach God?
[Mat 17:20 KJV] And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. What if we all believe like David we have the heart of God, might the mountains in our life be changed? Might the enemies flee and true victory prevail? I pray we start believing and let the true mountains of God prevail in our life so that the only thing the world will witness from us is mercy and faith.
Point to Ponder
Never mind your wallet, what’s in your mountain? [Psa 48:1 KJV] Great [is] the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, [in] the mountain of his holiness. What did you think made His mountain holy? Mercy and Faith…make sure you reach the clouds.
Let’s ALL go a little higher today the world needs to see it, In Him Phil
