Good morning all!
Father, we know that You are the Great Equalizer of mankind, You can only do what is just and right. Help us Lord to see this life through Your eyes, to have eyes of faith and live by Your word. Thank You Lord for protecting, providing and guiding us all as though each one of us are Your child, Amen. Don’t we all look for equality? Do you suppose the Lord looks for equality too? So, what’s equal?
Matthew 20
Mat 20:1 KJV – For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
Heaven is just like a man that’s running a vineyard, he hires folks to come work for Him.
Mat 20:2 KJV – And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
And once they accept the job and agree on the wage they go to work and do what’s been asked to do.
Mat 20:6 KJV – And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
Towards the end of the day the same man found some more folks that needed a job, so he asked why aren’t you working?
Mat 20:9 KJV – And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
Now when the work for the day was complete, everyone received the same wage no matter if you worked 10 hours or 1 hour.
Mat 20:12 KJV – Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.
But the earlier workers complained about the ones that only worked one hour, we had it much harder and you treated US all EQUAL.
Mat 20:15 KJV – Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
So the owner of the business asked them a question, can’t I treat everyone equal? Why does your eye see evil when I am good?
Bottom line
I love all the parables of our Lord Jesus Christ regarding the kingdom of heaven, they have become real treasures. This one is dealing with the message of equality, and what the Lord considers equal. Now based on this passage of scripture equality had nothing to do with what or how much the workers actually did, they did work but it didn’t CHANGE the outcome. You see, the business owner made them ALL equal according to scripture…you know the infallible word of God. How? They ALL received the same…equal is based on what we RECEIVE it’s NOT based on what we do or when we do it. Doesn’t that seem like a loving God to you? This is the gospel of Jesus
Christ, it has to be good news for ALL or it ain’t good news…Amen. Eyes of faith will see the goodness of God, when we don’t…our eye is evil. What makes our eye evil? When we try and establish some sense of fairness, right? Here’s the problem with that measure, it’s not God’s measure. God looks at the need, He doesn’t check to see if we’ve done enough to deserve it…that’s what the evil person does. Who did Jesus welcome?
Luk 15:2 NIV – But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them. Hey I’m in good company, Jesus welcomes sinners. In fact, He did a lot more than that…He ate with them too. You ever try eating a meal with someone you didn’t like? Thank God He doesn’t look at us that way, He loves us all and treats us all equal…no different than a father with his children. You want to know how God view things?
Lev 19:35 KJV – Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. God can’t be unrighteous, He can only provide an EQUAL weight and measure…hmm, could this be connected to the penny we all get? What’s the weight? Well, what do you suppose holds weight with God?
Psa 57:3 KJV – He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. SALVATION is the only weight that matters and we need MERCY and TRUTH to be saved. Makes sense to me, we first need His loving kindness and next I need truth…not facts, not feelings…His truth. Next we need to see if we measure up…remember everyone got the penny. You see, the evil person will sometimes measure the external circumstances or what the person has done to determine if they deserve mercy. But that’s not what God uses to determine whether we measure up.
Eph 4:7 KJV – But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. The measure is always Christ. And who has this gift? EVERYONE which is the same as ALL. Once again makes sense to me, everyone got the penny…looks like God measured the Christ in them and then gave them each a just weight…mercy and truth. Call me crazy, but maybe Jesus didn’t even see sinners…maybe that’s what we call them because we have an evil eye and maybe He just sees the need of salvation and then gives it based on His mercy and truth…sounds equal to me.
Point to Ponder
Who gets salvation? Tit 2:11 KJV – For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. No more questions…
Let’s all see the world equal, In Him Phil
