Good morning all!
Father, there is nothing that is hid from Your sight, from Your understanding. Lord we pray today that You would reveal more of Your wisdom to us, that we would continue to grow in Your strength and Your truth, Amen. I think we all have things in our life that are hidden, some deliberate and some things unaware. That’s why we need a real big God who really loves us to show us who we really are, what’s hid?
Psalm 19
6 His going forth [is] from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
His love is just like the warmth of the sun that circles the earth, no matter where or who…you can’t hide from His love.
7 The law of the LORD [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD [is] sure, making wise the simple.
The law is perfect reuniting the soul; the testimony is sure it will make the complexed simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD [are] right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD [is] pure, enlightening the eyes.
The statutes are right, makes us want to sing; commands are pure, giving us the best vision.
9 The fear of the LORD [is] clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the LORD [are] true [and] righteous altogether.
The fear of God is clean, and eternal; judgments are truth and righteousness united as one.
Bottom line
Now why does God first express the warmth of the sun before He highlights the 7 attributes of His word/commandments/statutes? God knows there are some things that are hidden, so He needs the sun to come out and shed some light on the situation…YOU! The 7 attributes come to life when His word inside of us is expressed in a life lived.
[Psa 40:10 KJV] I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation. David said the righteousness, faith, truth and love that was in his heart was NOT hidden…means we can see it…who didn’t he hide it from? The GREAT congregation…also known as the WORLD. Remember the word became flesh and lived among mankind, why would it be any different for us? While I can’t break down all seven this morning in a short devotion, let’s dig into the first one. What would make the soul perfect? Money? Career? Status? Yeah, they’re all pulling up short and just a little selfish. What about PEACE? Would you say your soul was perfect if you didn’t have peace in your life?
[Psa 37:37 KJV] 37 Mark the perfect [man], and behold the upright: for the end of [that] man [is] peace. How can God tell if we’re perfect? Well, when we get to end of yourself you can find peace…translation…you don’t have any enemies. How does God expect us to have no enemies? Hmm…does God have any enemies?
[Jas 4:4 NLT] You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. Yikes…what makes us adulterers? We’re NOT faithful, the world tells us we can’t forgive, we can’t let if go, we must hold a grudge against people. It’s really quite simple, we either listen to the world or we listen to God. I believe once we experience the warmth of His love and the depth of His forgiveness we start to love and forgive just like Him. Of course, God is perfect, can we be perfect in His eyes?
[Mat 5:48 KJV] 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Be perfect, don’t let the world influence only listen to YOUR Father’s voice in heaven…He says your above that lifestyle go ahead a be the light I made you to be.
Point to Ponder
How bright is your light? [Mat 5:14 KJV] 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Go ahead and light up the WORLD, don’t hide it from anyone…especially that person…it’s the only way to get over that hill.
Let’s all shine bright, In Him Phil
