Good morning all!
Father, we know that Your word is life and without it we would be lost. Help us to hear Your voice and follow the path of the Shepherd and live our life in Your fold, Amen. How many daily routines do we all have? From your cup of coffee in the morning at your favorite Starbucks, to your drive to work or visit to the gym all the way to your final look in the mirror as you brush your teeth before bed. What’s your daily routine?
Proverbs 8
33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
Hear with the intent to respond in a favorable manner, live it and don’t be stubborn.
34 Blessed [is] the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
That man that listens to Me is happy, he will watch My gates waiting for guidance, he will wait at the posts of My door to life.
35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
When you watch and wait you will find Me and in turn have life, the Lord Himself will favor you.
36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
BUT when you don’t you’re nothing more than a sinner that wrongs his own soul: and when you do that you choose death.
Bottom line
Proverbs chapter 8 is known as the chapter of wisdom. When can you consider it to be wisdom? Only when you FOLLOW it.
[Luk 7:35 NLT] 35 But wisdom is shown to be right by the lives of those who follow it. What? You suppose God thinks we’re wise when we don’t follow His word? Do we really believe the Creator of the universe has the right answers to life? Do we believe He has our best interest at heart? Jesus Christ is the best life coach if we will only listen and follow Him. A great coach must possess two important qualities, first they must be credible and second they must care about you. Of course He’s credible He created us, the question we struggle with the most is does He really care?
[1Pe 5:7 KJV] 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Well, if you’re like me and believe scripture and believe God doesn’t change His mind then He does care about YOU! And did you notice how many of our cares we should give Him? ALL!!! Why do you think He tells us to watch the gates DAILY? What do you suppose will come through those gates? TRUTH…have you ever sang that song His truth is marching on? Does truth go through your gates this morning?
[Zec 8:17 NLT] 17 Don’t scheme against each other. Stop your love of telling lies that you swear are the truth. I hate all these things, says the LORD. We are the gates that should declare the truth of God’s word, not scheme against each other for personal gain. Who does that? Wisdom. What about the posts for your door? Well what do you think holds the door in place to the heart of God?
[Exo 12:23 KJV] 23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite [you]. The only thing that will hold the door of our heart in place is FORGIVENESS. Who does that? Wisdom! Do you think God considers us a genius when we DON’T forgive others? Remember, God says don’t REFUSE this wisdom. Who refuses it? The Egyptian, the same one God smites. Now remember who found God? The one that heard wisdom, the one that watches the gates daily and the one that keeps his eye on the post. You know why we watch the post? I know the only way through that door is forgiveness…you find God…you find life. Wasn’t that the very cry of Jesus?
[Mat 23:37 NLT] 37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. Jesus Christ cries at the gates of our heart and prays won’t you come? Won’t you listen? Won’t you let me protect you? Won’t you live a greater life? And when we don’t we become just like the sinner that hurts themselves and loves death. I pray our daily routine will have us at His gates and His posts…truth and forgiveness daily, it’s the only way to live.
Point to Ponder
What else is part of our daily routine? [Mat 6:11 KJV] 11 Give us this day our daily bread. Daily is daily, the only way to get it…you gotta ASK.
Let’s all live it daily, In Him Phil
