Good morning all! Father, we know that You can do all things and You alone are God. Help us to believe that and trust in You, show us Lord that You can and You will do it, Amen. So, we know that God can do anything, right? What we really want to know is will He?
Isaiah 41
Isa 41:1 KJV – Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.
The reason you’ve been so distant from God is your mouth has been writing checks your body can’t cash…be SILENT, sometimes God has something to tell US…He did say TOGETHER…You don’t expect Him to have fellowship without US…
Isa 41:7 KJV – So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
Call me crazy but it looks like we’ve been building this pretty idol, looks like we had help too and we thought it was the best thing since slice bread that’s why we nailed it down…can’t live without it.
Isa 41:10 KJV – Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
It would appear that idol we created caused us some problems and we didn’t even know it. So, God comes along and offers words of comfort. Then He tells us what He’s going to do…I WILL give you strength…I WILL help you and I WILL pick you up…probably fair to say whatever I was holding onto didn’t offer any of those things.
Isa 41:15 KJV – Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
Now it looks like God WILL make us into a NEW sharp chewing instrument to eat up the mountains and hills…call me crazy again but maybe they were my motivation for building the idol in the first place which left us weak and alone and not very happy.
Bottom line
This is a really cool passage of scripture, it’s clearly obvious you can’t take this literal…it’s spiritual…God is spirit after all. If you have time this week read the whole chapter, you’ll notice God tells us 12 times HE WILL…come on now say thank you Jesus. You know why He will? First of all He loves you, second…we can’t do it without Him. Do what? LIFE!!!
Col 3:4 NLT – And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. Who is your life? According to the immutable and inherent word of Almighty God, the creator of heaven and earth and all therein…Christ is YOUR life…and as far as He’s concerned anything less for you and I just won’t do. In the beginning of this passage God calls us to His court room and His first command for us as Judge…keep silent…He knows we want to run our mouth and tell Him our story, what happened and who did what…after all we have to give Him some explanation for our behavior before He pronounces His sentence upon on us, right? But we don’t understand God’s courtroom, He calls us their to pardon us…you know it’s called forgiveness, that’s what you do with the people you love. Now, what got us there? We were building idols and not letting go of them, they had more power in our life then God did. Yeah, He really meant it when He said NO false gods before ME! Why? He’s power hungry? Greedy? Selfish? Right, completely ridiculous. The verse in Colossians says our life is Christ and that we are to SHARE in ALL His glory not some of it…ALL of it. Maybe God knows there’s no life and no glory outside of that life. I believe the idols we build represent false beliefs, lies, old hurts, old failures…we nail it down because we don’t ever get past it. You know why we don’t? The mountains and hills, the emotions that help me build the idol which actually has power in my life, it cause me to live a life that doesn’t look like Jesus Christ. We nail it down with anger, fear, hurt, self-pity, pride…anything we can use to say we’re justified to feel the way we do. Does that sound like God? Is that God’s glory? Is that a victorious life? How do you and I eat up those mountains?
Psa 89:14 KJV – Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. We are the face of God, when mercy and truth flows from our mouth eat will destroy any mountain of emotion that’s NOT Christ…remember the whole world is His court room…the only judgment the world should
hear from you and I, is truth and forgiveness…it’s the only chair in HIS courtroom…don’t make Him stand.
Point to Ponder
When was the last time you thought of God and smiled? Psa 4:6 NLT – Man ypeople say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, LORD. MANY people wonder this, go ahead and smile…better times are on the way…He will do it.
Let’s all thank God for what HE will do, Amen
