Good morning all! Father, I pray we all buy how much You love each and everyone of us this morning. Let it be so clear to us that it has nothing to do with our performance and everything to do with Your character, Amen. Ever feel like you have to work for God’s approval? His affection? What if I told you He can’t love you anymore or any less than He does right now, you buy that?
Isaiah 55
Isa 55:1 KJV – Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Hey there, is anyone thirsty? Come drink, you don’t need money; just come and believe and take it all in; then you’ll want more and drink wine and milk, once again no money needed…you couldn’t afford it anyway…it’s priceless.
Isa 55:2 KJV – Wherefore do ye spend money for [that which is] not bread? and your labour for [that which] satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye [that which is] good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
I mean really why do you pursue things that will not satisfy your hunger? You can work all the live long day but will it satisfy? Listen carefully to ME, consume that which is good, and your SOUL will be satisfied.
Isa 55:3 KJV – Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, [even] the sure mercies of David.
If I can have your ear for 2 minutes come to ME: HEAR and you’ll LIVE; I made a promise I intend to keep just like I did with David.
Isa 55:4 KJV – Behold, I have given him [for] a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.
Look, I GAVE Him to be the perfect example to you, a true leader and real commander in Chief.
Bottom line
You have to be bought into the gospel if you’re going to live as Christ, why else would He tell you to BUY but NOT with money? I think the money in this passage represents our pursuits in life and if we’re honest most of our pursuits are financially motivated. That’s what God is speaking of in verse 2, “we labor but we’re NOT satisfied…#wewantmore. Anyone feeling me on that one? As I read this passage I was reminded of the woman at the well with Jesus, she went there to get a drink…she got a whole lot more than that. What Jesus gave the woman was life changing, in fact, when you read that passage her life was changed immediately.
Jhn 4:28 NLT – The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone of Jesus. Let me call our attention to a life changed…1st, LEFT water jar…2nd, RAN…3rd, TOLD everyone of Jesus. And remember she wasn’t a disciple, in fact, she wasn’t from the church either…she was a Samaritan woman. Sounds to me like Jesus had her buy in, she never asked for instructions on what she needed to do different…she left, she ran and she spoke of Jesus…that’s what I call preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Sounds like Jesus was the motivation behind her pursuit and she had no idea she was going to meet Him there on that particular day. That’s verse 3 in Isaiah, if you want to LIVE all you gotta do is HEAR Him. Which means the opposite must be true, when we don’t hear Him…we’re dead. I mean can you say you have a great relationship with someone and NOT hear their voice?
Rom 10:17 KJV – So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Faith has a voice, I believe faith can unlock the word of God or the word of God can unlock your faith you need both. I believe that’s the wine and the milk, Peter calls the word of God the sincere milk, NOT judgmental milk…NOT critical milk it’s sincere and produces NO guilt. And then the wine is a picture of God’s love, the very first miracle of Jesus Christ was taking the water and turning it into wine. Do you remember where He was when He did that? Wedding feast…relationship…Husband…nobody is forced into marriage, it’s a mutual celebration of 2 people in love. Are you bought in this morning? Good, leave the jar, run and love like Christ…go find your woman at the well.
Point to ponder
Did you get the invite? Sng 2:4 NLT – He escorts me to the banquet hall; it’s obvious how much he loves me. I love this translation, some of you may remember singing this verse in Sunday school growing up…let His love for US always be obvious.
Let’s all buy in on His love, In Him Phil
