Good morning all!
Father, we are beginning to see You and Your hand more clearly. We pray that You alone would reveal Your truth in our live and allow us to become Your faithful servant. We know that apart from You there is NO good thing, but thank You because You are our everything, Amen. Have you ever heard that expression before? It’s all or nothing.
Psalm 62
Psa 62:6 KJV – He only [is] my rock and my salvation: [he is] my defence; I shall not be moved.
When the storms of life come…and trust me they come for ALL of us, cling to the only thing that’s secure, the only thing that will save us and protect us and you always know where to find it…GOD!!!
Psa 62:7 KJV – In God [is] my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, [and] my refuge, [is] in God.
He is MY salvation and puts a smile on MY face even in tough times: what else will make you that strong and that secure…GOD!!!
Psa 62:8 KJV – Trust in him at all times; [ye] people, pour out your heart before him: God [is] a refuge for us. Selah.
Trust in Him with or w/o covid…ALL the time, ALL ye people, give him your everything because He alone is your everything…GOD!!!
Psa 62:9 KJV – Surely men of low degree [are] vanity, [and] men of high degree [are] a lie: to be laid in the balance, they [are] altogether [lighter] than vanity.
Surely those that think so little of Him are empty, and those that think they don’t need Him are living a lie; both are put in scales of heaven to be weighed and their combined weight is actually lighter than NOTHING…HA!!!
Bottom line
I’ve probably read this Psalm at least hundred times in my life, you know what I just noticed? David says MY eight times in this chapter…My God…My Rock…My Salvation. The number eight usually represents a new beginning, so what was new to David? His relationship with God, He went from a sometime God to an ALL the time God. You know when He becomes an all the time God? When the relationship becomes a lot more personal to you than before…MY God ALL the time. It totally makes sense, right? As though the Creator of heaven and earth and life itself would be looking for a part time job? David is having another aha moment and begins see God in a different light, He sees God so much bigger and more powerful than ever before. What gave David this new revelation? He says that men of low degree and high degree evidently didn’t amount to very much…life apart from God. You know he was talking about himself, right? I believe that’s me when I say so what or who cares? The men of low degree are when we dismiss the things of God as though they don’t matter in our life, as though it has no effect on us. And the men of high degree are when I face certain situations in my life and feel I have it all together and don’t need God or don’t want Him involved. You know what I just did? I made Him somebody else’s God because He’s not mine. Why do I dismiss God so easily at times? Why do I feel as though He’s not in certain parts of my life?
Psa 62:3 KJV – How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall [shall ye be, and as] a tottering fence. He says it right here in the chapter, it’s because we imagine the worst of things. When we imagine the worst of one another, how could God possibly be MY Rock? My Fortress? The complete opposite happens, when we imagine the worst of others, we’re just like a tottering wall that’s going to fall over…oops there goes our protection. So, what’s the answer? Simple, don’t let your imagination run wild, remember Who your God is and imagine the best of others. After all who wants to be placed on the scales of heaven just to be told you weigh less than nothing? Time to put on a few pounds and believe the best of one another. Love ya!
Point to Ponder
You remember that hit song by Queen? You’re my best friend…Ooh you make me live, whatever this world can give me it’s you, you’re all I see…make that your song today…God’s your best friend, make sure you see Him and not a problem.
