“Do I really need to go to church?”
Maybe the better question is, “Why do I need church?”
In the beginning of time, after God created humankind and everything else, God gave a gift to humankind. The gift was called “rest”. God said, “remember the sabbath and to keep it.” In other words, “don’t forget to rest.”
I guess God knew, if he did not give us permission to rest, we would never stop working. Remember, God loves us and He wants to give rest not only to our bodies, but also to our soul and our minds. Church is a good place to go for a rest on a Sunday.
First of all, most church services do not start until 10:30 AM, this is so you can sleep in a little. Second, it is the best place to rest your soul and mind. You get a chance to take your mind off of yourself and think about something greater than you. Also, you have an opportunity to bless someone who may need a smile or a friend or maybe just a little laughter, or maybe you may need something similar.
Personally, I have found that nothing gives me more peace than when I worship God. You see the question is not really “Do I need to go to church?” Although, all of the questions that you have in this life can be answered there! Remember to keep the Sabbath, don’t let anyone take it from you, including yourself and give your weary soul a rest.
