Good morning all! Father, I pray that we would hunger for more of You, more of Your word, more of Your love, more of Your kingdom. We know that all we see is temporary but You Lord are eternal, You are everlasting, You are above all we seek and desire. Let us run to You today to meet and fill every desire and to know the depths of Your love and the riches of Your kingdom, Amen. For what do you hunger today? What do you desire? Does it affect the way you live? Do you hunger?
John 6
Jhn 6:48 KJV – I am that bread of life.
I am the only thing you need in your life to satisfy your every desire…I AM.
Jhn 6:49 KJV – Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
Your history lesson in life ate bread from heaven in the wilderness, but they died.
Jhn 6:50 KJV – This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
This bread is very different that comes down from heaven, any man that eats of this bread will NOT die.
Jhn 6:51 KJV – I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
I am the LIVING bread down from heaven: if ANY man eat this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread I give is my FLESH, which I will give for the LIFE of the WORLD.
Bottom line
Have you ever desired something and then got what you wanted, only to turn around and want something else? Sure, so what’s the answer?
Mat 5:6 KJV – Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. There’s usually only one answer to those that live by FAITH…Jesus. There’s only one way in this life to be FILLED…satisfied…not wanting…hunger and thirst for Jesus Christ. And here’s how we know our desires are on the right track, I desire God…I get God…and yet I want more of Him and yet somehow I’m satisfied with we’re I’m at…crazy right? And what’s so beautiful about this relationship according to scripture, when we desire God we’re blessed in the process…BLESSED are they which hunger…our blessings are based on HUNGER alone…NOT our deeds. How hard can it be to be hungry? Don’t most of us eat three times a day?
Dan 6:10 KJV – Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. Daniel prayed morning, noon and night, three times a day and gave THANKS, do you suppose that’s what hungering for God looks like? And I don’t know call me crazy, but if my memory serves me right didn’t the wicked king try and feed Daniel to the lions? Who won? The one that was hungrier…Daniel. You don’t have to be the strongest, the loudest or the fiercest…you just gotta hunger for God…you win! You know what else this also tells me? God really does LOVE me and we don’t have to EARN His love, it’s simple just desire Him. This is the lesson Jesus is speaking about here in John, our fathers look to satisfy their natural desires before God…they died. The bread from heaven is LIVING, it’s a life lived where the spirit of Christ is our first priority. It’s not like we don’t have other desires in life, but apart from God they become empty pursuits that lead to death…spiritual death. When we
desire anything apart from God, do you really have anything of value anyway?
Pro 13:4 KJV – The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. The sluggard has desires in life and yet he ends up with NOTHING, the diligent one has desires and he is a fat cat…sort of speak. Who is the sluggard?
Pro 20:4 KJV – The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing. Let’s face it the sluggard is lazy, he’d rather make excuses as to why he can’t plow the field and find God’s goodness in life. Where do we plow? I plow in church, I plow in prayer, I plow in God’s word and of course I plow in you…I find the Christ in you…if not, I’m a sluggard and need God myself. Jesus gave His flesh…His life, for who? The WORLD. And for what purpose? So that the world would have LIFE not death. We need to quit making excuses and start finding the good in the world, the diligent will find it you just gotta look a little harder.
Jhn 4:35 KJV – Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. What are we waiting for? Don’t say maybe in four months, LIFT up your vision now and you will see that the harvest is ALREADY white!
Point to Ponder
How’s your harvest? Luk 9:62 NLT – But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God. Don’t look back on your yesterdays, just keep your eyes in the present and you’ll find God’s kingdom.
Let’s all hunger for more of God, In Him Phil
