Good morning, all!
Father, we know that You hold all things in Your hands including US. We pray Lord that we would be all that we can be and everything that You created US to be, we pray we are instruments in Your hand doing Your work, Amen. Do you play an instrument? Ever notice it doesn’t play itself? It only works in the hands of those trained to play it.
Romans 6
13 Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God.
Don’t let any part of your life become overcome with evil and serve sin. Instead live for God, we were all dead, but now we have new life. So let every area of our life be an expression of what is right which brings glory to God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Sin doesn’t control us anymore: since we no longer live under the requirements of the law, but rather we live in the freedom of God’s grace
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
What next? Does this freedom mean we can do what we want now that we have grace? Absolutely not!
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Don’t you know, you’re a slave to whatever you listen to? You can be a slave to self, which leads to death, or you can listen to God and live.
Bottom line
The absolute mystery of heaven is living with the power of God’s grace, the truth is we can’t live without it. Is it possible that grace is the very breath of God?
[Gen 2:7 KJV] And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. What if when God created us, He combined our earthly nature…the dust…with our heavenly nature…His breath…and so mankind was created? This is what Paul is discussing with the Romans here in this chapter. Remember, Eve was a slave to the snake because she listened to it which gave birth to sin. The snake represents man’s selfish nature, this produces death and NOT the breath of heaven…GRACE. Said another way, we should live our life by the breath of God and not by our own breath. Why? Well because God’s breath can only produce life, it’s NOT possible to produce death and by the way His breath is ETERNAL…our breath is not which means it’s limited. Limited to what? Ourselves…we limit the power of God in our life, and we actually live like slaves instead of by the freedom of God’s grace. I believe Ephesians tells us that we were dead until Christ made us alive and it’s by grace alone that we are saved, NOT yourselves…it is God’s gift. So when did Jesus give us this gift?
John 20:21-22 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Wow! Right after the resurrection Jesus BREATHED on the disciples…the power of Grace…and He sent them out into the world, why? PEACE. We should be instruments of peace NOT discord…instruments of love NOT hate…instruments of forgiveness NOT bitterness. Think about it, what kind of music does God want from His instruments? What do you think tops the music charts in heaven? If God has a playlist, are you on it? You ever listen to a song over and over again because you can’t get enough of it? I pray we are that song to God…
Point to Ponder
What is life? [Job 33:4 NIV] The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life. Anything less than God and it’s NOT!
Let’s all be God’s chosen instrument, In Him Phil
