Good morning, all!
Father, help us to see the work of Your hand this morning and to trust in Your love for us. You word declares that we should not let our heart be troubled so may that be today, may we walk in the power of Your grace and be covered by waves of mercy, Amen. How long?
Psalm 13
1 [[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? forever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
How long will you forget me, Lord? Forever? Will I see you again?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, [having] sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
Should I continue to seek understanding from MY soul, having heartache DAILY? With my enemies getting the best of me?
3 Consider [and] hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the [sleep of] death;
Consider my lie and hear me Lord my God: give my eyes light before I fall into a deep sleep and not awake.
Bottom line
Have you ever asked God that question before, how long? Probably more times than any of us want to admit, right? Well, we’re in good company there were many leaders in the Bible that have asked God that question. But let me ask you a follow up question to that one, what does that say about God? He’s failed? He doesn’t care? No way He can see my current situation and stand by idle, right? WRONG!!! Just because that’s how we FEEL doesn’t make it true.
[Isa 49:14-15 NLT] Yet Jerusalem says, “The LORD has deserted us; the Lord has forgotten us.” “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! Did you notice that? It’s NOT even possible for God to forget us. How long is NEVER? The biggest liar I know is MY feelings, and just like King David they contradict God and then I blame Him by saying how long? And if we’re honest when we believe we’ve lost the presence of God we look elsewhere, we take counsel…find answers in our own soul NOT God. But notice what happens when we do that…we have sorrow in our heart DAILY. We live so much of our life by the seat of our pants rather than the seat of heaven, and I think it’s largely because of what we see in our life instead of what we can’t see…heaven. So, we are to pray just like David, lighten MY eyes…I’m in the dark here Lord, I can’t see you and I can’t see the purpose of that which I face today. How do we overcome our feelings? Pray for the Lord to enlighten our eyes to truth, to have greater faith and to trust His word…He will NEVER forget YOU! In fact, God is absolutely infatuated with YOU this morning, you know how I know that? He has enlightened my eyes through His word, it shatters our darkness and gives us life.
[Psa 139:17-18 NIV] How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand–when I awake, I am still with you. This is one of those WOW verses, let me give you three ETERNAL truths, number 1 when God thinks of us it’s NOT with regret or disappointment, He thinks we’re PRECIOUS…that Hebrew word means priceless. Second, you and I could spend the rest of our life trying to count His thoughts of us and we would still fall short of How much mind time He gives…yeah, it’s a lot. And last, we’re NOT actually blind we’re just sleeping…our eyes are closed spiritually but if we would awake, we can see God is STILL with you not just showed up…STILL as in NEVER left us. Here’s another truth He reveals here, when we FEEL as though God is not present in our life it’s like we sleep the sleep of death. Is it even possible to have life without God? NO but you can experience death by taking counsel in our own soul…our feelings and put our spirit fast to sleep…lights out. How long? Well, that’s up to each one of us, we can choose to see God is very much with us and loves or we can hold Him in contempt and hold onto our feelings instead of His word. Choose truth this morning, choose faith, choose prayer and ask God for revelation and give your eyes light so you don’t have to live in the dark any longer…makes the experience so much more enjoyable.
Point to Ponder
How long? [Mat 28:20 NLT] 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. You can be SURE of this today UNTIL the end of time.
Let’s awake to His truth, in Him
