Good morning, all!
Father, we know that You are ever before us and follow behind us so cause us to look to You alone. We pray for Your strength and Your wisdom as we navigate life, help us to look up to You for every circumstance we face so that we would never fall short of Your Grace, Amen,
Zechariah 1
18 Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.
Then I looked beyond the world I see, I looked with eyes of faith, and I noticed these 4 horns.
19 And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What [be] these? And he answered me, These [are] the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.
And I spoke to the angel that was watching over me and said, what are these horns? The angel said these are the horns that cause division in the church…also known as God’s family.
20 And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.
And then the Lord showed me 4 carpenters…hmm, one for every horn.
21 Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These [are] the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the
Gentiles, which lifted up [their] horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.
Then I asked what are these 4 carpenters doing here? And said, these horns which create confusion so the NO man would see beyond what they experience, well the 4 carpenters are going to cut them off and to cast out the Gentiles horns which have hurt my people.
Bottom line
So what exactly are the 4 horns that are causing a problem for the people of God? I believe the 4 horns are a picture of our flesh, it’s us living life by our ego and emotions. When the bible says Jesus crucified the flesh for all, how is that possible? Well, it’s NOT the actual flesh that’s an issue, it’s a mindset. He provided a way out of living beyond our thoughts, our feelings, our reasoning, our ego…also known as the 4 horns. If we’re honest we use one of, if not all of them to determine how we will live and respond in life. Here’s the problem God has with that lifestyle, it counts Him out. God explains this is verse 21, when we rely on our 4 horns as our life expression, we run people off. We run them off because they have either offended us or they simply don’t agree with our thinking, our logic and we didn’t stop long enough to look up. How many men didn’t look up? NO man…same as everyone. Sounds like Isaiah 53…ALL we like sheep have gone astray…all is all. What does it mean to look up? It means we will NOT live by the 4 horns instead we will live our lives based on what the word of God has to say…LOOK UP.
[John 4:35 KJV] Say not ye, There are yet four months, and [then] cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. These are the words of Jesus shortly after he met the woman at the well, we all thirst which is the say we have this emptiness in our soul that can only be filled by the wells of salvation, we are cleansed from sin. Did you notice how many months? FOUR…again the time in which we live by the four corner of our mind, which means we don’t see the field is already WHITE…we still see sin. Do you remember how many husbands the women had divorced? Five…our five senses, they will divorce of us from living a life of Christ…EMPTY. Do you remember what Jesus told her after that exchange?
[John 4:24 KJV] God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. We worship God, which is to say a life lived looking up and following His word. The very last words Jesus spoke on the cross was “into your hands I commit my spirit”, he said nothing about his flesh. Why? [John 6:63 KJV] It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life. What do we benefit by living our life in the flesh? NOTHING!!!! The WORDS he spoke, they are spirit and life. What & how?
[Psa 119:88 KJV] Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so, shall I keep the testimony of thy word. The what is simple, love like God and you will have eternal life and the how is just as simple KEEP the testimony of God’s word. Can you hear the testimony of God’s word? It’s in the verse LOVINGKINDESS, how does God know we love like Him? Our life speaks volumes, it should be filled with love and kindness. So, if the horns SCATTER what’s the impact of the carpenters?
[Eph 4:13 KJV] Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. The choice is simple, scatter or unity…I hope you make the PERFECT choice, and you will be filled.
Point to Ponder
Do you know the names of the four carpenters? Matthew, Mark, Luke and John also known as the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ…the son of a carpenter…the Prince of Peace.
