Good morning, all! Father, we know that You alone are the giver of life, and we pray the life we live honor You always. Give us understanding through Your word and Your spirit so that we might live a life worthy of the calling You have given us, Amen.
John 6
48 I am that bread of life.
I am the very essence of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness and are dead.
Your fathers ate bread from heaven when they wandered in the wilderness, which was good but they’re dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
This bread also comes from heaven, that you may also eat and NOT die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
I AM the LIVING bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, YOU will live forever and the bread that I will GIVE is my life which I GIVE to save the world.
Bottom line
This is such a powerful message from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, “I am the bread of LIFE”…I am your all sustaining and fulfilment of Life itself. What keeps you breathing? What keeps you moving? What gives you strength? JESUS…your bread of life. Now Jesus says when you eat this bread you will NOT die, so this is not a physical death it’s a spiritual death. What does that mean? It means we’re living a lesser life than the life God has given us. So what exactly is the bread?
[Mat 16:8 KJV] [Which] when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? The bread is a representation of our faith, didn’t Jesus say man shall NOT live by bread alone but EVERY word that proceeds out of the mouth of God…trust in Him. Remember when Jesus fed the 5,000 with 5 loaves of bread and two small fish? Well the five loaves is a picture of Grace and the 2 loaves is the witness of His word, truth. When we live our lives outside of faith we’re really NOT living, which is to say we walk without God…death. Now we can make ourselves look pretty on the outside and say we love God but, ultimately how we treat each other each every day determines if we’re living by faith.
[Mat 23:27] Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. Now why did Jesus call the religious folks whitewashed tombs? Because they were so concerned with calling out every little sin the people committed, and they forgot about to most important lessons Jesus…the bread of LIFE spoke…love and forgiveness. We’re called to LIVE righteously, what should that look like?
[Eze 18:22 KJV] All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. Hello…to live in righteousness means we DON’T mention each other’s sin…I suppose that’s why Jesus said the religious folks were filled with bones of the dead. It’s the Ezekiel story…
[Eze 37:5 KJV] Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live. Makes sense to me, if I talk about what you do wrong and condemn you that would produce death but if I live righteously and not mention your wrong doings, but rather forgive that would produce life. None of us have life without His bread but with it we will NEVER die.
Point to Ponder
Are you saved? [Jhn 3:17 KJV] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. The world will know we are saved by the absence of condemnation…give them bread.
Let’s all live for Christ, In Him
