Good morning all! Father, we know that You are changing us moment by moment to become Your sons and daughters. We pray the world would be filled with Your glory and all would know how great You are. You are not only the God of yesterday, You are the living God today, and forevermore, Amen.
1 Peter 2
4 To whom coming, [as unto] a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, [and] precious,
Jesus draws near to us as a LIVING stone, rejected by men, BUT chosen by God to be priceless,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
And you too are living stones being added together to be a spiritual house, a temple for the HOLY priesthood to OFFER spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Christ,
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Scripture has promised us to LOOK, God has established in Zion a chief corner stone chosen and without price and to those that choose to BELIEVE in Jesus they will NOT be confused.
7 Unto you therefore which believe [he is] precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
And He will be the most important person to those that believe, BUT to those that DISOBEY and reject THE stone, it will become front and center and the head of all.
Bottom line
Okay guys, I’m going to let the cat out of the bag early this week. What is the HEAD cornerstone that we reject? Let me give you a hint before you answer, I want you to get this one on your own so you will SEE it for yourself…what comes to MIND when you think of a HEAD stone? Ha!
[Col 3:12 KJV] Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering. Humbleness of mind is the chief corner stone, then meekness…which means to lay it down and then longsuffering…how long? Until you don’t see yourself as suffering, instead you’re a stone that holds it all together. We too are LIVELY stones just like our creator and collectively we build a spiritual house…you know the one that God dwells in also known as the church. Didn’t Jesus tell Peter on this ROCK I will build MY church? And the gates of hell would NOT win. So if the ROCK is humble thinking, then what are the gates of hell? Isa 5:14 Therefore hell expands its jaws, opening wide its mouth; into it will descend their nobles and masses with all their brawlers and disputes. PRIDE is at the gate of our mouth when we fight and argue with each other over who’s right and who’s wrong, there is NO cornerstone present with that kind of thinking. Rejection comes from a place of pride which according to verse 7 is also known as disobedience to God, why? Well if the Lord is building a spiritual house, which stone can we get rid of? Which one can we reject? Maybe that’s why he also lets us know that we are part of the HOLY priesthood which offer up spiritual sacrifices. Maybe instead of rejecting one another we could offer up a spiritual sacrifice, and what might that look like?
[Phl 2:3 KJV] Let nothing [be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. The corner stone…mind of Christ…thinks that others are BETTER than themselves and does NOTHING that would cause opposition or look to take credit…sounds like the same thing as lay it down…nothing is nothing! Now if you’re like me, there are many instances where I reject that thought…I think to myself that’s crazy, reducing ourselves to that point appears foolish as though we hold no value, like we’re not worth anything at all. But what if I told you that’s the exact opposite of the truth, what if God sees that as what He calls PRECIOUS…priceless. Is it possible that’s the lively stone? The very one God chooses to build His house? What could possibly be more precious or valuable than what God uses to build the very house He dwells in? it’s like opening up the door to your new house and finding God sitting in your living room, at that point do you really care what it took to get there? Maybe that’s when we start living for Him?
Point to Ponder
What’s the price? [1Pe 3:4 KJV] But [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, [even the ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. Let the hidden man out for the world to see, that’s the price.
Let’s all be a resolute lively stone, In Him Phil
