Good morning, all!

Father, we know that Your son is the one and only true overcomer and by His life we know the way to go. Help us Lord and open our eyes to see how to live and give us the strength to live by Your word and Your faith so that nothing can stop us, Amen. Are you an overcomer?

Revelation 2

26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
The one that wins in this life is the one that KEEPS God’s work unto the end…makes sense, as though you can declare victory if you don’t live life God’s way?

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
What governs His Kingdom is NOT flexible and NOT temporary, that’s the clay pot He plans on shattering anyway…yeah, He won’t let you glue it back together.

28 And I will give him the morning star.
And once that clay pot is destroyed God will never leave you empty handed, He GIVES…can’t buy it…can’t earn it…it truly is a gift never touched by man…the morning star.

29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Not worried about your vision but I am concerned about your hearing, anyone that has an ear…should include most of us…this is what the spirit of God is saying this morning.

Bottom line

What would you do for your own personal star? Are you willing to listen? That’s the request in this passage. God knows we all have ears, He’s the One that put them there? The point is this, we have access to God 24/7 whether that’s through pray or His word, but we generally don’t listen. We do what we want to do, until it’s so bad…it’s like the line from the movie with Richard Gere in Officer and a Gentlemen…” I got no place left to go” …that’s represented as the shattered clay pot. This all about becoming an overcomer, which is to say one that lives this life in total victory. Now in order to do that it MUST start with God, there’s no such thing as a winning formula without God, right? And what do you suppose is the work of God that we must take with us to the end of our life?

[1Ch 16:34 NKJV] Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for [He is] good! For His mercy [endures] forever. It’s FORGIVENESS!! If we’re honest sometimes our mercy doesn’t make it past Monday before we hold a grudge against someone, we haven’t KEPT God’s work unto the end. And when we don’t keep His work it’s not like God is okay with us holding a grudge, that’s why He rules with a rod of iron. What do you suppose rules God’s life?

[Psa 119:160 ESV] The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever. The complete word of God is what rules our life…FOREVER, that should be a tremendous source of comfort this morning especially when you couple that with His mercy which endures the test of time. Does it really matter what the world might say? If it contradicts God’s word it’s NOT eternal and it will not stand forever, read the sum of His book…He wins! Now, the best part of this passage is what we receive…the morning star. Why a star?

[Gen 22:17 KJV] That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which [is] upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. God made a covenant Abraham…a promise that He must keep…it’s NOT just for Abraham, that’s why He repeats here in Revelation. Our kingdom, our power and our glory are NOT bound by this earth…no, no, no. It is written in the heavens where NO man can change it or take it away…including you. Our Kingdom and our power…our inheritance is in Heaven…this world has no hold on you and me…it’s a covenant made by God. When you look in the mirror what you should see is a star, it is your true nature and character…it is Christ. You know when you begin to see that star? When you start to hear.

[Psa 51:8 KJV] Make me to hear joy and gladness; [that] the bones [which] thou hast broken may rejoice. How can you hear joy and have your bones broken at the same time? You need a morning star that will rise through adversity and pain and forgive the very person that may have broken your bones, you may break my bones but you cannot break my spirit…it says I love you, it says I forgive you and it says I need you…can’t you hear my joy? Do you have ear to hear? This is what the church says to the world…I need you and I’m willing to be broken for you because you are my shining star so don’t you go away.

Point to Ponder

Are you an overcomer? [Rev 1:16 KJV] And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance [was] as the sun shineth in his strength. The work of the overcomer is to shine like a star and the more you forgive the more you shine, the more you shine the stronger you get…the true overcomer.
