Good morning, all! Father, we know today is the day that You have made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it. Lord, we give you thanks and praise Your name for You are good and Your mercy endures forever. We will praise in the morning and in the evening until the sun goes down so the world will know the power of Your name, Amen.
Psalm 150
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
Praise Him with a clear and distinct sound that is undeniable, praise Him the soft melody of the harp…truth and meekness.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
Praise Him with a tambourine as you dance, praise Him with the guitar and organ…deliverance and righteousness.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
Praise Him with a loud noise and praise Him with the highest note possible…joy and love.
6 Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
Let ALL the world praise the Giver of life itself. Praise Him always.
Bottom line
This is the final chapter in the book of Psalm, the word itself means a melody…it represents you and I…our life song. With our life song we give praise to God for He alone is worthy of our praise. But more than that and because God is NOT selfish, when we praise God, it gives us TRUE power and strength to live this life.
[Psa 150:1 KJV] Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise has to start with the sanctuary…the church…that’s you and I and there is POWER in the firmament…that which is ABOVE the earth also known as a life of faith…the world can’t shake US, right? We have faith which is NOT of the world and praise is the gateway to His power. Can we have power apart from faith? Can we serve God without praise? In this chapter there are listed nine different instruments and nine is symbolic of the church, there are nine fruits if the spirit and nine gifts of the spirit in the church. As the church grows in maturity, we become the fruit and we become the gift, and the final and highest call is when our life becomes His praise. Each one of these instruments is a characteristic of living a life of Christ, you don’t think God actually expects us to play a harp? Spiritually speaking what does a LOUD cymbal sound like in your life? JOY!! What does your HIGHEST cymbal sound like? LOVE!! Our life song should always make the sound of love and joy, I mean isn’t that the reason for the church in the first place?
[Gal 5:6 NIV] For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. God really isn’t interested in our religious observations, in fact, it has NO value according to His word. There’s only one thing that He counts, having faith to LOVE people. Does your faith enable you to LOVE others? You know why it takes faith to love others? Because sometimes we DON’T. We praise God by loving others, and we express our love on a LOUD cymbal…we love with joy in our heart. I mean how can we offer God our life song without hitting those notes?
[Zep 3:17 KJV] The LORD thy God in the midst of thee [is] mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Have you ever been so in love you can’t wipe the smile off your face? You work all week just so you can spend your whole paycheck on the one you love and then start all over? What makes God so MIGHTY? His love for US, what song do you suppose the Lord sings when He sees you? Picture this in your mind, the verse says He will save US…I see God as The Bodyguard…do you remember that movie? What hit song did Whitney Houston sing…I will ALWAYS love you…that’s the Lord’s song to YOU! And because God loves US you know He is always saving us just like a Bodyguard, right? Salvation isn’t a one-time ceremonially prayer, it’s a lifestyle that relies solely on the love of God. When we face challenges and difficulties in life, we are called to praise God and He will come and save US.
[Act 16:25-26 NLT] Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off You want to open prison doors immediately? You want to shake loose those chains on your feet? SING to GOD, there is nothing more powerful than praising God…your praise can change the world…it didn’t just save Paul and Silas, the scripture says chains fell off from EVERY prisoner. All we have to do is praise and then allow God to shake things up in our life and set us free!
Point to Ponder
When is it time to celebrate? [Psa 21:13 NLT] Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts. Whenever you believe God has the power to change you and your life…just praise.
Let’s all praise His name, In Him Phil
