Good morning, all!
Father, we know that You are the El Shaddai and nothing escapes your hands. Help us, Lord, to live this life understanding that Your power and Your love is never confused or absent. Show us Your word is safe and true and Your glory without excuse, Amen
1 Corinthians 3
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
Whatever we think we know based on reason and intellect it’s foolishness in the eyes of God. We think we’re slick but God is 10,000 steps ahead of us.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Again let me tell you, the Lord knows our thoughts and plans but they are worthless…if they don’t fit into His will they will fail.
21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
Therefore let NO man think he is better than the next for ALL mankind belongs to God;
22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;
No matter Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the WORLD, or life, or death, your today and your tomorrow; ALL belong to God.
23 And ye are Christ’s; and Christ [is] God’s.
And you are Christ and Christ belongs to God.
Bottom line
The bottom line in this passage of scripture is first and foremost none of us can outsmart God and second, EVERYTHING belongs to Him including your birth and your death. I believe there are at least 20+ recorded names for God, the one most used is Jehovah which means the existing One…the same yesterday, today and forever…God don’t change and neither does His plan. But this passage is speaking of Shaddai translated into English as Almighty, it means ALL power. I hope we can find peace in this passage this morning, ALL power means just that but notice the Creator also says we belong to Him. So why worry about anything?
[Mat 6:27 KJV] Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? The answer to this question is NOT one of us can add anything to who we are and what the Lord has planned for our life, I know that’s hard to accept right? The Lord helps those that help themselves, right? WRONG that’s folk law it’s NOT actually in the Bible. In fact, it’s the exact opposite of what scripture tells us. Scripture says the Lilies grow without toiling or spinning, so why do we spin? Doubt and unbelief, perhaps are the two biggest enemies in our life that need to be defeated. You know when they attack? Usually when I think I’m untouchable or when things don’t go the way I want. So, how will God defeat these enemies? What is His plan and will we look more like Christ?
[1Pe 4:12 NLT] Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Dear friends, I love that Peter calls us friends and NOT sinner, enemy, dummy-Ha! Scripture tells us that God’s judgment is fire and a sword. The sword removes my carnal thinking and the fire changes the way I see God and I see you, and it will take a fiery situation in your life to clean and purify our heart. He cleansed me from my sin and cleanses from ALL sin which is to say I don’t see sin in others, I quit judging them and start loving them instead…only fire can make that change. You can’t do both, you can’t be judgmental and love them at the same time. I mean if I really love you I should take the heat and endure it NOT give up on you, that’s NOT faithful. Faithful doesn’t mean people in your life won’t mess up, they absolutely will, but faithful people say it doesn’t matter because I won’t GIVE UP on them. Doesn’t that sound life Christ? Doesn’t that sound like long suffering? Doesn’t that sound like a friend you want? God tells us in this passage NOT to find glory in man, in their performance or what they accomplish the quote unquote “good person”…He says that’s vanity…worthless. And why? He says we are ALL Christ, He calls out individuals in the church but He also included the WORLD. How can we ALL be Christ?
[Rom 12:5 KJV] So we, [being] many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. MANY are One, those of the present time and those that are yet to come, ALL belong to God. I mean think about it, how can God be the Shaddai if He only has power over the church? How could He be ALL powerful? That would mean the WORLD is on their own and they have the power. That would make God’s name false and His word a lie…of course that’s NOT possible. Maybe it’s time we start living as ONE body and quit trying to remove and eliminate parts, after all they ALL belong to God anyway, the Shaddai…the only One with the power to change a heart, present and to COME!
Point to Ponder
What power does the world have? [Prov 21:1] The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he guides it wherever he pleases. NONE, not even the King!
