Good morning all!
Father, we know the Lamb of God came a took away the sins of the world. We pray that we would find comfort and truth in that this morning and not let anything steal that promise from us. Help to live in that truth to know we are free from sin and death and show us how to live as overcomers, Amen. Of all the figures or images for God to choose as His son, He chose a Lamb to free the world.
Revelation 21
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
I saw NO church, instead all I could see was the power of God and the Lamb which replaced the church.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb [is] the light thereof.
And the city didn’t NEED the sun, the moon to give any light; instead the glory of God was plenty bright and the Lamb IS the LIGHT.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
And the nations that walk by this LIGHT are saved, and the kings of earth bring there honor to this Light.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
And the gates of this city are NEVER shut because there is NO night there.
Bottom line
The mystery of Revelation, this really is speaking to us this morning…I hope you can see it. In this passage it looks like we trade our church for a Lamb, I thought church was good thing? It is until it becomes a bad thing, so why the trade? We hold onto church instead of God. First of all how many churches are there? Right, a gazillion, how many God’s? Only One so who’s right? Who do we truly need? If we’re honest church should lead us to God but sometimes it does the opposite, it teaches to build walls and keeps us from God and from others.
[Isa 30:13 KJV] Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant. In our mind we build walls to help protect ourselves but notice the wall is called iniquity…SIN, the problem is our walls not only keeps people out of our lives but it keeps us locked up like a prisoner. Remember before the Israelites could enter the promise land they had to defeat their first enemy to get in, it was the WALLS of Jericho. There was also a woman trapped inside those walls, so what happened? When they blew the trumpet the walls crumbled, they took the city and the women was free. I believe these are the walls of condemnation, we condemn others for not believing what we believe, we condemn others because we believe we are righteous and they are not. If we’re honest most of our religious beliefs are based on words we’ve heard spoken in a church over the years, however, if they are words of condemnation they didn’t come from the throne of heaven.
[Luk 6:37 KJV] Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. Call me crazy but if Jesus tells us NOT to judge or condemn people and then tells us to FORGIVE, do you suppose they’re connected?
[Eph 5:11 KJV] And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove [them]. Instead of having fellowship with unfruitful condemnation, forgive and have fellowship with the person. This brings us to the very last thing God shares with us in the final chapters of the Bible, after all He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Hmm…weren’t the first spoken words of God “let there be light”? And now we find the last thing God is speaking of is this new city which has a light called the LAMB, we are to live and have FELLOWSHIP in this light…that means friendship with NO judgments. How important is the light to God? Well, He says the gates to the city of friendship are NEVER shut…they always welcome and none are kept out. Did you see what else goes on in this city? It says there is NO night…NO darkness meaning the LAMB’s light will always provide light. You know why? We have NO fellowship w/unfruitful works of darkness…we don’t judge people, we don’t condemn people, instead we forgive and open a door to friendship. You want power and authority? Keep the door open and the light on in your city…LIFE…and you will become a true king in the earth today.
Point to Ponder
So why the Lamb? [1Jo 1:5 KJV] This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. Because His fleece is white as snow…be a Light.
Let’s all walk in the power of His light, In Him Phil
