Good morning all!
Father, we know that You alone are our strong tower and in You nothing can ever harm us. You alone defend us when we are down. You find us and cover us with Your wings according to Your word. Help us to see You and find comfort and protection always, Amen. Is He your rock?
Deuteronomy 32
4 [He is] the Rock, his work [is] perfect: for all his ways [are] judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right [is] he.
God is a ROCK, His work should never be called into question: God will only operate in TRUTH and never create separation, He “IS” just and right.
13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;
He makes you and I to find higher ground as we live this life so we can partake of His increase and satisfy us with honey and oil that comes from the Rock.
15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered [with fatness]; then he forsook God [which] made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
But my spoiled child has gotten a little lazy set in their ways, they have grown thick minded and forgot about the call God has given them, they have taken the Rock of salvation for granted.
18 Of the Rock [that] begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.
The Rock that has given you life and you haven’t give him any mind time, we forgot that He actually created us.
Bottom line
So what makes God the rock of our salvation? And why a rock? It’s so obscure and seemingly insignificant, right?
[Col 3:3 KJV] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. How can we be dead yet have life? The truth is whether we want to believe it or not our life is HID with Christ, which is to say we are inside the rock…salvation. So how are we dead? We are dead to the world, we are dead to their standards, and we are dead to conditioned responses. Thinks about it, can you hurt a rock? Does is get upset? Does it ever retaliate? NO…NO…NO. Well, God is that Rock. God is considered a rock because He NEVER gets offended.
[Isa 26:3 KJV] Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee. He is perfect peace, which means He has peace uninterrupted, undisturbed, and never broken. Think about, can you have peace if you’re offended? I think we get offended too often and too easily, we can be offended when others don’t respond the same way we do to an offense. But that’s NOT perfect peace, and according to scripture if we trust in God and keep our thoughts on Him we can have the same perfect peace that God has. Why do you think He says the Rock is our salvation? Salvation is living in that Rock, living with the understanding that though we may face difficulties and even hurt from others we can hide in that Rock and NOT be offended by them. In fact, scripture says we get to taste of the honey and oil in the Rock. What is the honey?
[1Sa 14:29 NLT] “My father has made trouble for us all!” Jonathan exclaimed. “A command like that only hurts us. See how refreshed I am now that I have eaten this little bit of honey. The men were told NOT to eat the honey so they were too weak to fight and after Jonathan ate the honey and the men ate they found renewed strength and defeated the Amalekites. Who are the Amalekites? They are all the things we’re offended by, hurts and sorrows we hold onto that make us weak. The honey? KINDNESS!!
[Isa 54:10 KJV] For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee. Wow, God’s kindness will never leave us and neither His covenant of peace. I mean we can’t be odds with the people in our life and have peace or say we’re saved. So kindness never leaves but some things do…mountains and hills…mountain of offense and hills of hurts. How? Just be kind and mountains and hills will fade away and all the Amalekites will be defeated. Sometimes we get just like Israel, we wax fat…we get set in our ways, the world’s ways or we kick…we’re stubborn and that’s when pride shows up in our thoughts. We forgot that our life only exist because of God, who’s very nature is kindness and pride will always lead to us forgetting about treating others with kindness. What if we started to forgive others before we let anything offend us? What if we chose kindness instead? Is there anything stronger than that? You suppose we would be dead to the world’s standard? Maybe that’s how we actually ride in the high places of the EARTH and who knows we might actually find God there?
Point to Ponder
What if things seems too much? [Psa 61:2 KJV] From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock [that] is higher than I. God knows we will have the moments when we’re overwhelmed, all we have to do is pray that prayer…LEAD me to the Rock higher than my feelings.
Let His Rock hide us all, In Him Phil
