Good morning all!
Father, we know that Your glory is unmatched, it’s has not limits and it always seek others first. We pray Lord that we would know that kind of glory, that way of living and declare the promise of Your kingdom. Let us always be reminded that You alone are God and worthy of all our honor and praise, Amen. Isn’t funny the things we find glory in? Making more money and finding a way to spend less. Having a bigger house and somehow having a smaller mortgage. I get up at 4:00am, but I can stay up until midnight…where’s the glory?
Galatians 6
Gal 6:12 KJV – As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
There are many that desire you to follow the law in order that they might look good in the eyes of others rather than suffering for the cross of Christ…He really meant what He said…it is finished!
Gal 6:13 KJV – For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
I mean they don’t really follow the law themselves; they just want you to follow them because they glory in their appearance of it.
Gal 6:14 KJV – But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
Not me Charlie Brown, that glory is worthless, the only glory comes from the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which worldly desires are crucified to me, and I also to them…no hold.
Gal 6:15 KJV – For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
Because when you are in Christ Jesus nothing else matters what you do or don’t do, but rather we become the new creation He has made you to be.
Bottom line
Finding glory in anything other than the cross of Calvary…is really NO glory at all. This is the power of the gospel, it makes all mankind equal in the sight of our Lord and Savior. All else outside of the cross is nothing more than vanity…empty…worthless, so much for glory-Ha! Whatever we accomplish, whatever we have, it has everything to do with God and nothing to do with us…glory goes to God and God alone.
Isa 10:15 KJV – Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood. You and I are the instruments in God’s hand, He cuts and He builds with us as He sees fit really nothing for the axe to boast about. This really is a great picture for us this morning, to know that God uses each one of us to accomplish His plan even though we all have different talents and purpose. This is Paul’s message to the church at Galatia, they were making a “fair shew in the flesh”…the outward appearance of things to demonstrate their faith in God. Paul says God forbid, this is not about what we do and don’t do to keep the law as though we can accomplish becoming righteous. We can all glory in the Cross of our Lord Jesus, His death is our death.
Rom 5:19 KJV – For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Many are made righteous…also known as the world, not my will but Yours be done…I will go to Calvary and make many righteous. I really love that picture this morning as well, to know that we are all equal in the eyes of God…we are all righteous and it has nothing to do with circumcision or uncircumcision. We are to become a NEW creature, what exactly does that mean? It’s the same as being born again, according the words of Jesus.
Jhn 3:3 KJV – Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. He said you couldn’t SEE it, He didn’t say you didn’t have it. Ever have something and yet to blind to see it? I believe the kingdom of God is all around us, I believe it’s inside us. What place does God not exist? Only in the places we choose not to see Him, if we can’t find Him in us we’ll never find Him outside of us. Being born again or a new creation means you have to think differently, you have to think like Christ which means I will only glory in the cross…it’s the finished work of Jesus Christ. Really the only thing left in this world is Christ, when you really believe that…you will live like that.
1Co 15:45 KJV – And so it is
written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. So, if Jesus Christ was the LAST Adam, can you have any more Adam’s running around? Following the law or following some tradition of man or not following does not get rid of Adam, this is the opposite of not being able to see the kingdom of God…you see Adam and he doesn’t really exist. You are a new creation, you are a quickening spirit. Remember, what Jesus told James and John?
Luk 9:55 KJV – But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. Jesus told them both they didn’t know what manner of SPIRIT they were, not what kind of man. Yes, we’re flesh and blood but what’s more real that which is eternal or that which will eventually pass? We should glory in the spirit of Christ that dwells inside of us, this is the glory of mankind and it makes us ALL sons and daughters of God…there is no greater glory.
Point to Ponder
Where’s your glory this morning? 2Co 3:18 NLT – So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord–who is the Spirit–makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. It’s living in more and more like Him!
Let’s all glory in the cross, In Him Phil
