Good morning all!
Father, we know that You reign supreme and You are the king of all kings. You said in Your word You came to serve and not be served, give us the grace and wisdom to know when to reign and when to serve, Amen. The bible talks about us being both a king and a priest, so which are you?
2 Peter 2
1 Pe 2:7 KJV – Unto you therefore which believe [he is] precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
There’s a side of you that believes but then there is a side sometimes that doesn’t, the very thing you rejected will be the only thing that brings you together.
1 Pe 2:8 KJV – And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, [even to them] which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
And when you don’t believe, this Rock will cause you to stumble and be offended and judgment will come.
1 Pe 2:9 KJV – But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
But to those that believe you’re chosen to be kings and priests because you’re holy which makes you peculiar to the world; you declare the works of God because He took you out of a dark world and into a kingdom with a light that never goes dark:
1 Pe 2:10 KJV – Which in time past [were] not a people, but [are] now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
In our past we didn’t identify as God’s people because we didn’t show mercy to others, but NOW we see we are God’s chosen because the mercy which God has freely given us…we NOW share with the world.
Bottom line
The Bible says we are to be both, kings and priests.
Rev 5:10 KJV – And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Now you do see where God made us to be both of these? EARTH!! This is basically what Peter is talking about in this passage. Now if you know the old testament the king did king stuff and the priest did priest stuff, the two were not to mix duties and now God is telling us to be both? The king speaks of ultimate authority, the buck stops here! It’s speaking about the spirit of Christ that dwells inside of us. And remember the prayer of Jesus, Father make them one as we are one…we’re ALL kings. However, what is the context of this king? Sometimes we think you need to see how big my crown is or you need to see how much authority I have but that’s NOT the role of this king.
1Ti 1:17 KJV – Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, [be] honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. Our king should be invisible to the world otherwise we really have NO wisdom. You know who sees your king? Yeah, God. The king knows who he is in Christ Jesus, he’s not looking to prove he’s a king. A king knows his authority and will seek the king of kings in all things always, the king doesn’t feel bashful, intimidated, unworthy, he’s a king and he approaches the throne of God without hesitation…that’s the wisdom. And then the priest, what’s their purpose?
Lev 4:20 NIV – And do with this bull just as he did with the bull for the sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for the people, and they will be forgiven. Real simple priest are called to forgive people, they put others first which according to scripture is their reasonable service unto the Lord. You see the king gives me the authority to serve as a priest, the king is internal…invisible and the priest is external and makes atonement…covers…the sin of the people. So what’s the priest’s sacrifice?
Pro 10:12 KJV – Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. The sacrifice of love covers ALL sin. For years I had the roles reversed, I had my priest hidden in my heart and my king is what I wanted the world to see. That’s why God’s appointed time comes, He flips my world inside out so my king is hidden and my priest is seen. Remember God’s throne is mercy, the king approaches that throne so he can turnaround and provide mercy to the people and go from darkness to light. Remember what did God call us before He calls us a royal priesthood? CHOSEN…don’t forget your purpose, turn on lights.
Point to Ponder
Who’s making the decisions in your kingdom? 1Ki 21:25 KJV – But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. You need a true king to control queen Jezebel, don’t let your emotions get the best of you otherwise your queen’s in charge. We’re kings and priests NOT queens and cry babies.
Let’s all live a chosen children of God.
