Good morning all!
Father, we know that nothing can separate us from Your love, so what do we have to fear? Not even death itself can keep us from You. May we walk today in confidence and truth knowing the God of all things will never leave us or forsake, Your love reaches to the heavens and Your faithfulness to the skies, Amen.
Psalm 136
23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy [endureth] for ever:
Even on our worst day God’s loving kindness will endure and get us through it.
24 And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
And when the world comes against you God’s loving kindness will endure and get you through it.
25 Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
And God’s provision is to ALL mankind because His loving kindness will endure and NOT let you go without.
26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
We can all thank God the One above it ALL for His loving kindness will endure NEVER run out.
Bottom line
If you’re like me I have my laundry list of prayers, sometimes the list is so long I forget what I even asked God for, you? This is a well-known Psalm, the whole chapter is dedicated to all the wonderful things God does for us. And what’s the reason? Our goodness? Our faith? Our prayer request? NOPE!!! God’s loving kindness ALONE. The Hebrew word for loving kindness is a lot more powerful than the English translation, the deeper meaning says “one that has an EAGER desire to express their love”…WOW! God desperately wants to express His love for us, I don’t think our minds can truly comprehend His mercy and I’m not sure God wants us to fully understand it but I do believe He wants us to EXPERIENCE that love. Which is more powerful? The definition or the experience? I think that’s the problem with most of religion, we want to argue over the definition or the meaning instead of LOOKING for the experience, feel me? Now I want you to notice something in verse 23, when is God eager to love us? In our lowest of lows, on our worst day NOT our best day. And when is God eager to do this? FOREVER!!! So what does Psalm 136 teach us about TRUE love? ENDURANCE!!! Makes sense to me, you can try and define love any way you want BUT if it don’t endure…news flash, it ain’t true love. We just celebrated Easter; will you give this some thought? Of course, Jesus rose from the dead, also known as conquering death, right? Why did He conquer death? To prove He was God in the flesh? Okay sure, but could there be more? Could there be greater meaning? Greater purpose? Would you consider this for a moment? What if it was more than conquering sin? What if He rose from the dead because He was so eager to love us the grave couldn’t hold Him? Jesus couldn’t stand the thought of US living without Him, and maybe in return His hope is that we believe we can’t live without His love?
[Sng 8:6 NIV] Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. His heart burns for us and death itself isn’t strong enough to hold back His love us. You know why? It ENDURES forever, it endures betrayal, it endures denial, it endures every accusation, it endures the crown of thorns, it endures three nails, it endures the darkest day known to mankind, it is stronger than death…that’s our Lord, no one can compare to the power of His love. Did you notice the verse right after our worse day He says we’ve been redeemed from the enemy? You know the enemy isn’t a person, right? It’s the enemy within you, it’s the enemy that tells us we don’t deserve His love, or perhaps we question His love for us because of certain circumstances in our life…that is the only ENEMY we have. Quite simply the enemy is any thought that questions God’s love for us or any thought that thinks we don’t need His love. There is NO such thing as life without His love, God has given us breath just so He could love us…give thanks because you can’t outlive that love.
Point to Ponder
Romeo and Juliet is considered a great love story, they both DIED for their love. [1Jo 4:16 NLT] We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. Jesus rewrites the greatest love story, we get to LIVE for love NOT die.
We all get to live for loving, In Him Phil
