Good morning all!
Father, hear the cry of our heart this morning and fill every need, every empty place, every short coming You find in us. Lift us into Your arms and Your heart, hold us close that we might feel Your heartbeat and experience the never-ending love of the Father, Amen.
John 4
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
But sir, you don’t have a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. How would you get this living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his cattle drank from?”
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again.
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
But those who drink the water I give will NEVER be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh and new springing within them, giving them eternal life.
Bottom line
Have you ever felt unsettled? Perhaps you couldn’t quite put your finger on it but something felt missing? Jesus addresses this issue with the women at the well. I don’t believe any of us will truly be satisfied until we meet with Jesus and have Him pour into our life. Did you notice Jesus told the women you can drink from this well and it will satisfy you but only for a MOMENT, then what? We have to find another well? Why? We THIRST again and again and again…it won’t satisfy…something is missing. If we’re honest we’re all chasing after wells in this life…same thing TLC sang about, chasing waterfalls-Ha! We will never truly feel satisfied, complete apart from Jesus Christ. You want the witness of that word?
[Jhn 15:5 NIV] I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. What does that mean to REMAIN in Jesus? Greek word means to LIVE as Jesus and when we do we have fruit if NOT you have NOTHING, same as well that is within YOU it produces ETERNAL life NOT temporary satisfaction. Do you want to thirst again? The world will chase everything but the life of Christ but what if His word is true? What if He is the only way you and I can truly be satisfied ALWAYS? Notice it’s not accomplished by just an introduction, it’s gonna take a lot more than that to get closer, to find real truth, real peace and real joy. His well is DEEP, how deep are you willing to go? How hard will you press into Him? You want to be healed this morning?
[Mar 5:27 KJV] When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. The woman with the issue of blood had been bleeding for twelve years and she HEARD of Jesus but hearing about Him wasn’t enough she found Him and she PRESSED through the crowd…past the world…she had to press in and TOUCH His hem and nothing would stop her NOT even the embarrassment of her issue, she was desperate for more of Him and would not be denied. You feel me?
[Luk 5:4 KJV] Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. I don’t care who you are or what you’ve been through, you go ahead and listen to the voice of God and search for the deep and you will find deeper truth, deeper faith, deeper love and a much deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. How well do you know Him? Have you touched the hem of His garment? Do you REMAIN in Him? Notice we REMAIN and NOT achieve, this is who we are because we already belong to Him. Do you know Him better today than yesterday? Does He mean more to you today than yesterday? I believe our relationship with Jesus is progressive, the more we know Him and the better we know Him the more we want to REMAIN in His presence. Why?
[Pro 18:24 NIV] One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Jesus is the most reliable person in our life, He is the friend that will NEVER abandon you, the friend that will NEVER betray you, He will always forgive you, He will always love you and He will always believe in the very best of you…that’s a RELIABLE friend. I pray we all grow closer to Jesus through deeper truth, through deeper faith and NO matter what we face I pray we REMAIN close to Him even if all others are unreliable.
Point to Ponder
What’s reliable in your life? [Luk 6:48 NIV] 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. If you’re unsure of some things in your life you might want to dig a little DEEPER, I promise you’ll find the reliable answer you can build a life on.
Let’s all make Him our closest friend, In Him Phil
