Good morning all!
Father, I pray we would always make time for You and always find room in our life for You. We can only see what is before us, but You can see all around and what’s in front of us, help us to remove the things that clutter our lives so we can have more of You, Amen. The size of our God is closely connected to how much room we make for Him in our life, no room…no God, plenty of room…big God.
Ecclesiastes 7
Ecc 7:13 KJV – Consider the work of God: for who can make [that] straight, which he hath made crooked?
I know you think you have it all figured out but don’t forget the hand of God; He made some things crooked…He’s the only one that can straighten things out.
Ecc 7:14 KJV – In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.
When things are going well in life be happy and give God glory; and when you face some crooked situation in your life leave room for God. It was His doing so you quit thinking you got life figured out.
Ecc 7:15 KJV – All [things] have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just [man] that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked [man] that prolongeth [his life] in his wickedness.
I mean I’ve seen everything when I live a God less life; good people die early and the rotten one for some reason live much longer.
Ecc 7:16 KJV – Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
We’re not as right as we think we are and we’re not as smart either, when I live that way, I actually harm myself.
Bottom line
I know we leave room for God in church on Sunday morning but how much room does He get when life isn’t going quite the way we want it to? There’s a reason that trial popped up in our life and NO it’s not so we can join the world and take a stand, it’s so you can join God and lay it down. What did Solomon ask us to consider when adversity strikes? GOD! At the end of that adversity, we’re suppose to find God so if my response or solution doesn’t include God…that is His nature and character…you haven’t come to the end of your issue. And WHERE is that issue?
Pro 4:23 NIV – Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. The problem is never WHO or WHAT, it’s WHERE…how much of what do? The bible says EVERYTHING we do…any idea what that might include? No, he couldn’t possibly mean this issue or this situation? So, when should we leave room for God?
Isa 57:15 KJV – For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy [place], with him also [that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. The truth is whether you make room for God or not He inhabits every fiber of our being, He’s the One that will give us a new spirit and a new heart. But just like when Jesus was born, we have no room for Him because we’re too busy trying to fix what’s crooked in our life…what we don’t like. We’re just like the animals in a barn, we kick like a donkey, roar like a lion and bite like a snake…so much for the Lamb’s book of life…maybe our life should look more like a lamb? Maybe that’s the life we’re called to live? God loves us too much to let us live like animals, He wants us in His palace where we belong so He uses some unconventional methods you might say
Hos 5:15 KJV – I will go [and] return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early. How do we offend God? We respond to life’s trials without Him, we didn’t seek Him early…FIRST. This was one of David’s prayers, with all his crazy trials he finally got his wake-up call and realized the problem wasn’t with Saul, his wife, his kids, it was him…he needed a change of heart.
Psa 73:21,22 NLT – Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside. I was so foolish and ignorant–I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you. The bible will often use animals to describe situations, it’s just a picture of us being ruled by our feelings instead of the spirit of Christ and that includes us Christians too. Anyone remember God’s prophet Balaam?
Num 22:28 NLT – Then the LORD gave the donkey the ability to speak. “What have I done to you that deserves your beating me three times?” it asked Balaam. The king of Moab was willing to pay Balaam a lot of money if he would curse the people, Balaam knew it was wrong, but he wanted the money, so he saddled his donkey and went anyway. Who stopped Balaam? God used a talking donkey, why? The donkey listened to God when Balaam didn’t. In the end the obedient donkey saved Balaam’s life and his eyes were opened and went on but he did what Gold him to do…bless the people. You want to make room for God today? Don’t listen to king Moab just go bless somebody and make it so big that there’s plenty of room for God.
Point to Ponder
Can you hear the voice of God? Rev 9:13 NLT – Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice speaking from the four horns of the gold altar that stands in the presence of God. if you want to hear from God today, you’ll have to meet Him at the altar, and whatever you do don’t leave the altar empty present the acceptable sacrifice…your time.
Let’s all make room, In Him Phil
