Good morning all!
Father, thank You for another day to give You praise and honor. Let us see your glory today no matter what we see or face. We pray we will find Your purpose in the day and know the power of Your love and grace, Amen. Have you ever found yourself busy doing something when you ask that question, what’s the purpose?
Isaiah 1
11 To what purpose [is] the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
What’s the purpose are all your sacrifices to Me? I am FULL of all of them but I take NO delight in any of it.
12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
When you come to Me, who asked you to treat my house like a place of business?
13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; [it is] iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Do Me a solid, quit bringing me your peace offerings and your prayers because they make Me nauseous; and the way you celebrate all the religious holidays I ain’t with it, you have turned it into sin.
14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear [them].
You may have moved on and have a new celebration which you think is a blessing, but I actually hate it: it’s troubling to Me and I can no longer bear to watch it anymore.
Bottom line
Now, as you read this passage of scripture you might think God’s being a little harsh with the church, right? At first glance sure but you have to see it the way God sees it or else it’s just our opinion and not necessarily the truth. I believe that’s exactly what God’s pointing out here, God began His statement with a question to us…What’s the purpose? I think the church lost sight of their purpose, anyone feel me on that one? As though we get to play Webster and redefine what God has already defined for us. That’s right God is the original Webster of life, He defines truth, faith, forgiveness, love, church etc. Isn’t funny how we think we can define so many of these things in life as though God left some stone unturned and forgot.
[Rom 1:25 KJV] Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Anytime we think we can define what God has already defined we change His truth for our lie. Why do you suppose we call God Creator? He creates, He defines, He gives purpose. What should we do? FOLLOW IT!!! God was looking to correct the church here, they forgot the true purpose of worship and sacrifice. Remember, the first offering God asked of Israel was a burnt offering to God…what was left? Nothing, that’s the point. You and I offer all our opinions, ideas, logic and our selfish will and place it to be burned on the altar…now all we have left is God’s will and purpose for our life. The second offering was a peace offering, that one is for mankind…it was called PEACE for a reason. Logic would say when there’s a division or a beef with family or friend each one needs to go half way to reach one another, that’s nice and it might make for a pretty Hallmark card but I don’t think that’s God’s definition. What if God’s definition is for you to go all the way? What if you have to lay it down so there’s peace? Maybe the purpose in life is to be at peace with each other? And not necessarily going to church, praying and making whatever sacrifice we think we’re making on behalf of God while there’s still division and strife in our life?
[Pro 16:7 KJV] When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Now call me crazy but perhaps our purpose in life is to please our Creator and NOT make Him weary, forget about your sacrifice and go make peace with anyone you see as an enemy.
Point to Ponder
Will we follow our Shepherd? [Jhn 10:18 KJV] No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. If you think someone took something from you, chances are you’re NOT looking at your shepherd.
Let’s all live with His purpose, In Him Phil
