Good morning all!
Father, we know that this world brings uncertainty, it brings things we don’t always understand but You do. Help us to trust You when we face seasons like this in our life, strengthen our hearts to believe in You and give us the confidence to follow Your path always, Amen.
Hebrews 10
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
Do NOT lose your confidence in God who will deliver you a great reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s work and you will receive all that he has promised.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
The waiting is for a little while, but He will come and be right on time.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if [any man] draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Now the righteous of God live by faith alone but anyone that withdraws from faith MY soul is not pleased with that lifestyle.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
But we are NOT like those that give up on faith which leads to death, but we BELIEVE that God will save our soul.
Bottom line
I love this passage of scripture, for those that live by faith it begins with CONFIDENCE. You know what happens when we’re NOT confident in God? In faith? We WITHDRAW. You know how we withdraw from God?
[Psa 118:8 KJV] – [It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. We put are confidence in man, not any man…the man we’re speaking of is YOU! If you’re like me, I get how this can happen. We find ourselves in situations or feeling a certain kind of way that we don’t like, we may even pray and ask God to help us with it. And when we don’t see a change or feel different, we lose confidence in God and begin to take matters into our own hands, feel me? That is the opposite of living by faith, scripture tells us to lean NOT on our own understanding but in ALL our ways…our course of life…trust God and He will direct your path. We should also take note that after God tells us to have confidence in Him, He says we will also have NEED of patience. Why patience?
[Jas 1:4 KJV] But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. It says patience will make us perfect; we become complete and WANT nothing. Want nothing? We become more accepting and stop trying to change everything or everyone, we begin to say in EVERYTHING give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning ME. I think what happens when truly trust God and wait, whatever we were waiting for or wanting changed begins to fade away. Our lives come to a place of maturity when the change that was truly needed was our HEART and when that perfect work is complete, we feel complete. It’s like the scene in Jerry McGuire when he’s standing in the living room and he says we live in a cynical world and he’s not sure about tomorrow but “you complete me”. The perfect work is when we stop looking for certain situations to change, what we were so fixed on initially and we begin to say Lord you complete me. Notice in this passage God makes us a promise, He knows we wait for a little while, but He will come. This is where we need faith, we must believe that He comes and that He is the ON TIME God. Scripture also tells us to seek FIRST God’s kingdom and His righteousness; I think our problems are caused by misaligned priorities. We want God to fix our situations FIRST, but God says the problem best I can tell…He should know, right? He created us. The problem is until I complete my perfect work in you, in your heart, your priorities will be out of whack. But once you are complete through faith and patience you will begin to think and see things differently. So, seek ME first and then everything else will be added unto you. God sees your hurt; you might even be bleeding and in need of a band aid. But before He worries about the band aid He sees there’s a hole in my heart and that needs His attention first before He worries about the superficial cut, feel me? What this passage is saying is our life must be lived by faith, NOT only is it FIRST but it really should be our only option. When we draw back from God that life leads to death, it leads to absence of God in our life. Why do think He takes No pleasure in that? He loves you and the last thing He wants it to lose you so instead of drawing back…start to lean in today, I’m CONFIDENT you’ll feel better when you do.
Point to Ponder
How reliable is God? [Pro 25:19 NLT] Putting confidence in an unreliable person in times of trouble is like chewing with a broken tooth or walking on a lame foot. When faced with troubled times don’t be the one limping around speaking hurtful words, it’s NOT a confident look-Ha!
Let’s all be confident in a loving God, In Him Phil
