Good morning all! Father, there is NO greater love than Your love, Your word declares that it endures forever. Even when we fail, or doubt, or give up, Your love endures all our foolishness. Lord, open our hearts today so that we would love like You and bring You glory, let Your kingdom rule and reign always, Amen.
1 Peter 4
7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
Whatever you’re going through it will soon end so you be of sound mind and don’t get caught up in it instead use prayer.
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
And whatever you do love them passionately; true love will cover them all their wrongs.
9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
Be generous to one another without complaint or debate.
10 As every man hath received the gift, [even so] minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
For He has given every man a special gift, so use it to touch the lives of others, that you be a GOOD servant in MANY ways of God’s grace.
11 If any man speak, [let him speak] as the oracles of God; if any man minister, [let him do it] as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as God himself full of kindness. Do you have the gift of helping others? Then help everyone you see with the passion that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
Bottom line
Peter describes God’s love as being FERVENT, what exactly is that? it’s a love so big it cannot be contained, it overflows into every area of your life. Do you want to love like that? There is NO better example of a life sold out to God than to love like the One who has loved you to the END of every difficulty, every problem, every
transgression, every reason to walk away but NO His love REMAINED & covered it ALL. Peter tells us to be sober, why?
[1Pe 4:1 NIV] – Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. Peter tells us the best defense in this life is to have the SAME attitude as Jesus Christ because the one who suffers in this life, they have NO sin. Now you can’t disconnect that thought from FEREVENT love, a love that is NOT contained, our only response in the face of adversity is LOVE. If God is love and we are made in His image and likeness, then it makes sense that our ONLY response ought to be LOVE. If not, that is the sin. As though God would give us His nature and character just so you could hide it in and not use it, isn’t that a waste? Remember the story of the stewards that were each given silver talents? Do you remember which one King said was wicked?
[Luk 19:20 NLT] But the third servant brought back only the original talent and said, ‘Master, I hid your money and kept it safe. The wicked servant did NOTHING with his talent instead he HID it. So, what happened?
[Luk 19:26 NLT] Yes,’ the king replied, ‘and to those who use well what they are given, even more will be given. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. Those who use well what they’ve been given get MORE, but those who do NOTHING it is taken away. When we stop loving people it’s reckless, it’s not being sober minded and prayerful. If we stopped that behavior long enough and prayed about it, what do you think God would have us do? There’s great purpose for that love; it should cover a MULTITUDE of offences. Why? Because we are going to be offended by one another and if we stop loving each other that is the sin. We’ve been given a talent, and we do NOTHING with it. Our love should be like a tidal wave, uncontained, unavoidable, too big to be stopped. Now doesn’t that sound like God’s love? The very next verse he continues to explain what that kind of love looks like, we are to be GENEROUS and NOT grudging…don’t be stingy with that love. I love what Peter tells us in verse 11, he really leaves NO room for doubt or mediocrity, he tells us to SPEAK & DO as though you were God himself. Now you might think that’s crazy? Sure, I get it, however, did you see where you get this ABILITY? GOD!!! Is the end of ALL your situations at hand? You might ask the end of what? Your breakthrough. You want to put an end to ALL doubt, fear, hurt, pain, confusion, uncertainty, there’s only one way out of it, only one way to get to the other side…LOVE!!! Quit hiding it before you lose it.
Point to Ponder
How great is your love? [Sng 8:7 AMP] Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man would offer all the riches of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned and despised. Wow, there is NOTHINING more powerful or priceless…don’t sell yourself short…choose LOVE always!
Let’s all love like a tidal wave, In Him Phil
