Good morning, all!
Father, we know life can feel busy and noisy at times, but Your word declares to be still and know You are God. Help us Lord, help us to silence the world, help us to silence the critics, help us to silence anything that is contrary to Your spirit and truth, Amen.
Isaiah 41
1 Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew [their] strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.
Stand in silence before ME O you distant lands and the people RENEW their strength, let them draw close then speak, let US come together as one to judgment.
2 Who raised up the righteous [man] from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made [him] rule over kings? he gave [them] as the dust to his sword, [and] as driven stubble to his bow.
Who has stirred up this king from the east, calling him to God’s service? Who gives this man victory over many nations and to trample their kings underfoot? With his sword, he reduces armies to dust. With his bow, he scatters them before the wind.
3 He pursued them [and] passed safely; [even] by the way [that] he had not gone with his feet.
He chases them away safely. He will NOT take part in their destructive lifestyle.
4 Who hath wrought and done [it], calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I [am] he.
Who has done this and brought it to pass, calling the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD, I’ve done it with the first and will do it with every last one…I don’t change!
Bottom line
Why does God tell us to be silent? And why does he call us islands? They go hand in hand; our thoughts are so loud and foreign to God that we have become distant from Him. We can’t hear him because our NATIONS are speaking louder than Him, we become an island to ourselves. But notice in the first verse God gives us the reason to be silent, we have become WEAK. How do we RENEW our strength? Well, we have to get back to God, we have become so distant we can’t hear Him and all we hear are the foreign imaginations in our head.
[Isa 17:12 NIV] Woe to the many nations that rage–they rage like the raging sea! Woe to the people who roar–they roar like the roaring of great waters. These nations in our head think the worst of things, our thoughts rage and roar at the people in our life. As a man thinketh so he is, it will influence how we live this life. As though God would have you think poorly of others or yourself for that matter, what did you think he was saving? Jesus was crucified on Golgotha…the Greek word means the “Skull”…He crucified every negative thought, the FOREIGN nations…they’re NOT allowed in heaven.
[Isa 30:15 KJV] For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. You want to be saved? RETURN to God and REST, quit fighting. You want your strength back? Be quiet and trust God. But Israel refused, it says they fled on horses and pursued the battle. So how will God quiet these nations in us?
[Eze 7:15 KJV] The sword [is] without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that [is] in the field shall die with the sword; and he that [is] in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him. God will bring His judgment on this city WITHIN, pestilence…moves you off your patterns and thinking and He will cause you to hunger for what is right and true. I mean if God doesn’t change our thinking, then how will we ever know Him or His plan for our life?
[Rom 12:2 NIV] Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will. The world’s patterns are broken; they focus on the “what have you done for me lately”-Ha! But that’s not the way God sees it, His plan for us is from above, it is eternal NOT temporary. We think we can call ourselves Christians and then live by the patterns of this world, but scripture says otherwise.
[Pro 15:24 KJV] The way of life [is] above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. A life without God, a life without our eyes on the WAYS of heaven leads to foolishness which leads to hell. I don’t know what the voices in your head have told you lately, but you might want to silence them long enough so that you can hear from the One who is TRUE, HOLY and ETERNAL…in the end it’s all that will matter anyway.
Point to Ponder
Where are you going? [Psa 107:30 KJV] Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. All we have to do is be QUIET and God will get us to the DESIRED place, nothing to worry about.
Let’s all be quiet before the Almighty, In Him Phil
