Good morning all!
Father, we know that You alone are a shelter and a shield to Your children. You are the first one we should run to and the only one we need to stand behind. Thank you Lord for another great day, for the power of Your word and the warmth of Your love, Amen. Have you ever used a shield? What about your car windshield? How do you know when it’s effective? It keeps the elements from you. Do you need a shield?
Proverbs 30
5 Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield unto them that put their trust in him.Looks like God’s word is crystal clear on how to live life, now all we have to do is hold it UP and get BEHIND it.
15 The horseleach hath two daughters, [crying], Give, give. There are three [things that] are never satisfied, [yea], four [things] say not, [It is] enough:
There’s a leach that has 2 daughter’s and cries, I want more, I want more. There are 3 that things that are NEVER satisfied and 4 that say NOT enough.
16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth [that] is not filled with water; and the fire [that] saith not, [It is] enough.
The grave…life w/o faith, the barren womb…life w/o truth, the desert…life w/o God and the wild fire that says NOT enough.
17 The eye [that] mocketh at [his] father, and despiseth to obey [his] mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
That lifestyle produces the mocking child which does not honor his father or his mother, that child is spiritually dead and sees the world picking at him because he is void of truth and faith.
Bottom line
I know the word of God is full of power and life and can NEVER be wrong so why don’t I stand behind it ALWAYS? Why do I feel the need to defend myself? Defend my feelings? My truth? I believe this what the Proverb is warning us about, it’s telling us to hold onto God’s word above everything else. Pro 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. If you’re like me I take the word of God and ADD my feelings to it and NOT necessarily actual words. And when I do that you know what you hear? My feelings. The only way the word of God can be our shield is when we actually live it, that is how we protect our life. I mean can it be a shield if we ignore it? It’s like running out onto the football field to play without a helmet on, you’re gonna look crazy and you’re gonna get hurt…guess that’s why it’s
called the helmet of salvation-Ha!
[Isa 38:19 KJV] 19 The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I [do] this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth. Who make the Father’s truth known? The children…you and I. God said the living do that, which means when we don’t we’re…DEAD! Why else would vultures come and pick at your body? Which of the Father’s truth might have some application in our life? Love your neighbor? Love your enemy? Forgive your neighbor? Forgive your enemy? I mean how else do His children make truth known in the earth? LIVING the truth NOT killing it. You know how we kill it? It’s the 2 daughter’s that cry out loud but they are NEVER satisfied…PRIDE & PITY. Pride says I don’t need you and pity says look what you done to me, pride says I’m better than you and pity says I got it worse than you. I mean one minute I have my chest puffed up and the next I have my head hanging low, which is it? Both are a selfish position and both completely exclude God from our life. You can’t claim that He will never leave me nor forsake me and grab hold of either one of those, God ain’t riding on that train. That’s how our life turns into the grave…I live w/o faith…the barren womb…I don’t birth His truth in my life…and now I’m in the desert, Jesus has left your building. Now comes the real fun, we set a fire.
[Jas 3:6 NIV] The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. My tongue will corrupt my WHOLE body, it sets the course of how I will live my life because it’s void of truth and faith. Truth and faith isn’t the absence of love and forgiveness, it’s the absence of pride and pity, it’s the only way His children can live and make the Father’s truth known in the earth.
Point to Ponder
Are we God’s children? [Jas 1:18 NLT] He chose to give birth to us through his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. We are more than His children, we are His most prized possession and that is the TRUTH.
Let’s all make His truth known today, In Him Phil
