Good morning all!
Father, we know that Your plan for us is perfect, so help us to trust You when doubt and fear creep in. Help us to understand Your spirit and Your ways, not ours. We ask that You would perfect in us trust, perfect our faith and most of all perfect our love for You so the world would know who You truly are, Amen.
Ephesians 4
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
We continue to teach & live until we ALL come to unity in the faith and know God’s Son the only perfect man, the measure which is the complete fulness of Christ.
14 That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
So, we will no longer be immature, bouncing all around listening to the next new teaching. We will not be influenced by those that look to benefit by what we serve being deceived.
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ:
Instead, we will speak the truth in love, so we may grow up and live more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
So, we ALL become close knit and united in one mind as each of us does effective work to help others grow so the body is healthy and completely FULL of love.
Bottom line
True faith should always unite us and NOT divide; this is the definition of the perfect man. Paul is NOT speaking of one individual, he is speaking of a corporate body, the church, the body of Christ. Scripture declares the fulness of the body becomes complete when ALL are unified in THE faith and NOT any faith. How do we know if faith is true? [Gal 5:6 NIV] For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. What is true faith? What forms one body of Christ? LOVE!!! What we choose to believe or whatever religious ceremony we follow is of NO value and will NOT produce the perfect man. Why do you think Paul tells us not to be tossed to and fro like immature children? We’re led astray by religion, by the world, by fear and doubt, we wander further and further from God and we don’t even realize it. How does this happen?
[Pro 27:15 AMP] A constant dripping on a day of steady rain And a contentious (quarrelsome) woman are alike. How do we find ourselves so far from God? One drip at a time, we take issue with the people in our life, you wake up one morning and you SEE more issues with the people in life than moments of love them. How can we be more like Christ if we take exception with one another instead of loving each other? The New Testament mentions a perfect man twice, here in Ephesians and again in James. You suppose they’re connected?
[Jas 3:2 KJV] For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same [is] a perfect man, [and] able also to bridle the whole body. The perfect man has self-control; he knows how to control his mouth and doesn’t speak words that offend, words that insult and hurt people. That would be a good start to unity, a good start for us to become knit together in Christ. Now did you notice who is the head of this body? Christ, not an individual but rather ONE way of thinking. How do we think? We think to love FIRST and anything we do after that is a distant second and won’t really matter, follow? It says we are to GROW UP into Him, you know what grown ups do? We love, they know life is short and precious and look to make the best of every moment instead of looking for the worst. The perfect man is a lifestyle, it’s not to say we’re not going to make mistakes in life. It says through all the mistakes we keep our mind on things ABOVE and know that through it all we’re called to love one another, to be knit to one another and forgive the mistakes. He said we are to edify one another NOT tear one another down, makes sense how can be one body and yet hurt part of it?
[Rom 14:19 AMP] So then, let us pursue [with enthusiasm] the things which make for peace and the building up of one another [things which lead to spiritual growth]. There is only one body, we are called to be the hands and feet of Christ…hands are works which is LOVE and feet is lifestyle which is FAITH and there is NO faith without loving each other…this is the perfect man!
Point to Ponder
How big is your family? [Eph 3:15 KJV] Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. Don’t bother trying to count them, just LOVE them.
Let’s make love perfect, in Him Phil
