Good morning, all! Father, we know the time has come and once again are calling Your children back to their Father, back to their home, back to Your arms. Lord, we love You and trust You, help us to live by Your word, Your promises, Your faith. We have gone on long enough with our own understanding, turn us Lord, turn us around so that we would only hear YOU and live, Amen. Sometimes you have to turn around and go back to where it all began…
Isaiah 31
6 Turn ye unto [him from] whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.
Time to turn because you’re going the wrong way, you’re in DEEP and there’s only one way out…about face.
7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you [for] a sin.
In that day EVERY man will throw away the idols his hands have made of gold and silver because they caused him to sin.
8 Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.
Then the Assyrian…enemy…will die by the sword but not form the blow of a man, and if they try to escape the sword then they will be taken captive.
9 And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the LORD, whose fire [is] in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
Their strong holds will fall, they will see the banner of victory and know they are defeated saith the Lord, for the fire is in Zion and HIS furnace is Jerusalem.
Bottom Line
When I read the account of Israel being led by Moses in the wilderness, what was the deep revolt? Remember God doesn’t look or weigh the external, so the DEEP revolt had to be the revolt that was deep inside of them, you feel me?
[Pro 23:27 NIV] For an adulterous woman is a deep pit, and a wayward wife is a narrow well. We’re in deep and the only way out is to turn back to God, we’re all the unfaithful woman when we worship our idols of gold and silver. We’re all rich in the world, rich with opinions and ideas and whatever else we might listen to instead of God. And if you listen to it…well, you worship it and when you worship IT you have become the adulterous…unfaithful to God. Check it, God tells us to love our neighbor, right? But we have a different OPINION of our neighbor or perhaps a differing point of view, meaning our desires DON’T line up with God’s desire. So, is God wrong? Perhaps the dumbest question I’ve ever asked, Ha! And the more we ignore God’s desires the DEEPER we revolt, we become more enamored with our own riches which is to say our own ideas and opinions. So what will God use to TURN us around? Well the Assyrian (the enemy that runs from God) he’s slain by the sword but NOT from a man, so how’s that work?
[Isa 34:5 KJV] For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. It’s the Lord’s sword from heaven, it’s God’s word that changes us from the inside out. God will bathe His sword in heaven, it’s a clean word that holds NO opinion, it doesn’t hold a selfish point of view. Psalm tells us that the idols we serve are covered over with silver and gold formed by the hand of man NOT God. And God’s love for us will remove the idols from our life, He guards our hearts because He’s intimately vested in our life, even more than we are for ourselves. Didn’t God create US in His image and likeness? NOT by opinion, NOT by might, NOR by power but by HIS spirit…it is LIFE! Let’s go back to the DEEP revolt, what was that?
[Exo 32:8 NLT] How quickly they have turned away from the way I commanded them to live! They have melted down gold and made a calf, and they have bowed down and sacrificed to it. They are saying, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. Israel made the golden calf to worship, and why? Moses went up the mountain to talk with God and they thought He was taking too long, sounds like they lacked patience so what does Israel do? The first thing we do is TURN away QUICKLY from God and then we manufacture our own answer…the golden calf…definitely not the image and likeness of God. Remember God is NOT carnal and according to scripture there is only one enemy of God…the carnal mind, it’s the one made of gold and silver…the opposite of faith. God tells us three times in the New Testament “the just live by faith” said another way those made in the image and likeness of God will only live by faith. Time to turnaround and live by faith alone, God’s always waiting with open arms.
Point to Ponder
What happens when we turn? [Psa 80:3 KJV] Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. The only way God’s face can shine on us is if we looking to Him for guidance but when we do…WE shall be SAVED!
