Good morning all!
Father, we know that all Your promises are settled in heaven and nothing on earth can change them. We trust You Lord no matter what we know, no matter what we see, no matter how we feel. You Lord are the only thing in this life that is Faithful and True, help us to hold onto Your promise that we have eternal life, Amen.
Galatians 4
Gal 4:28 KJV – Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
My dear brothers and sisters, WE are children of the promise just like Isaac.
Gal 4:29 KJV – But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him [that was born] after the Spirit, even so [it is] now.
But like Ishmael who was born of human effort and performance persecuted Isaac who was born of spirit, the same happens today.
Gal 4:30 KJV – Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
And what exactly does scripture say regarding this issue? Get rid of this woman and her trouble making son; for that son will NOT share one bit of the inheritance of Isaac.
Gal 4:31 KJV – So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
So then, brothers and sisters, we are NOT children of this woman held in bondage, but we are FREE.
Bottom line
The promise is this…don’t let the weight of this world drag you down, hold onto His promise. What’s the weight of the world? I believe it’s our need or belief to respond to everything we see or hear in life. So, what’s the promise? You DON’T have to respond!!! Okay, so I may be over simplifying it a bit here but most of the time our worries and concerns are NOT faith based, they’re based on a worldly view of things. And whether we see them as very little or perhaps very big and personal, it’s still NOT part of our promise.
Mat 27:14 ASV – And he gave him no answer, not even to one word: insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly. Jesus was charged with so many lies and accusations, and even in the face of death He spoke NOT one word and Pilate couldn’t believe it. I mean shouldn’t we fight the good fight? Yes, but what is the GOOD fight? Well, in this case it was to be silent even when the world and the church was throwing everything at Him. Sometimes if you’re like me you might think it’s the Christian thing to do and speak out for justice, but what’s justice? By the world’s standard you have a winner and a loser, you have one who’s right and another who’s wrong. So, do we think God would say I’m taking back my promise? Is that justice? I mean it’s NOT a promise if you can lose it, and if you can lose it than it’s based on performance which is the picture of Hagar and her son. And according to scripture we should CAST them out…of our life, our thinking, our belief that it’s our fight. Hagar is a picture of you and I giving life to worldly positions, we’re in bondage to the world when we think we have to respond or fix the injustices of life. How’s that working out so far? The answer isn’t to look more like the world, the answer is always to look more like Christ.
Psa 17:15 KJV – As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. In one of David’s darkest moments in life, he didn’t rant and rave and did ask God to send fire to consume his enemies…that would have made him the son of Hagar…no instead he knew the answer to what he faced was within, he asked God to change him every day so his thoughts and his life mirrored God and then he would be satisfied and NOT frustrated. How we choose to live this life will determine whether we’re satisfied and FREE, we are all free to look and sound more like Jesus or we can be in bondage and look and sound more like the world and probably feel frustrated or upset. We are always free to look MORE like Jesus, free to love, free to forgive, free hope for the best, free to rejoice and sing, free to be silent, free to give, free to believe God, and free to receive His promise. Call me crazy but maybe the best things in life are FREE to you and me because of the One who PAID for it all.
Point to Ponder
Are you really free? Rom 5:18 KJV – Therefore as by the offence of one [judgment came] upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [the free gift came] upon all men unto justification of life. According to the word of God the free gift was given to ALL mankind…congratulations you’re included, now go live free.
Let’s all live according to the promise to be free, In Him Phil
