Good morning all!
Father, we know that by Your hand heaven and earth were created. You said, we would not be satisfied until we awake with your likeness. So change us and make us more like You, help us to live by faith in all we do and keep our eyes on heaven, Amen. Walt Disney was once quoted as saying progress is impossible without change.
Ezekiel 10
11 When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.
And they went forward in four directions…sounds like they’re covering the 4 corners of the world, and as they moved forward and would NOT turn away, but the place where the head looked…my guess is they kept their eyes on heaven and they would NOT dare change their course as they went.
12 And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, [were] full of eyes round about, [even] the wheels that they four had.
And the whole and complete body…the church which is Christ…their backs…what we carry, the cross…their hands…what we do, save others…their wings…what lifts us up from worldly cares, mercy…the wheels…what puts us in motion with NO obstruction, love and all these things are covered with eyes…FAITH and FAITH alone is how we see life.
13 As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel.
And MY hearing…it’s has to be personal…turn wheel turn…faith does come by hearing and call God crazy if you wish but He assumes if you heard Him then you’re going to listen to Him.
14 And everyone had four faces: the first face [was] the face of a cherub, and the second face [was] the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
And EVERY one…same as all, had four faces, angel, man, lion and eagle…the complete God man…Christ…you and I, we can walk and chew gum-Ha!
Bottom line
Ezekiel had some wild visions, no way to look at these with natural eyes, right? We have to see them through the eyes of faith or the vision would make NO sense and have NO effect in our life…pretty sure that’s not what God had in mind. Let me ask you a question, how effective is a new corvette without wheels? Looks nice but you ain’t going nowhere. This vision is speaking of us living a life of faith, you need a wheel otherwise you’re NOT going anywhere which is to say NO progress. Didn’t God say we are changed into the SAME image from glory to glory. Does our life look more like Jesus or is it still same ole same ole? Our lives should have a forward motion just like a wheel, always moving and always changing until we ALL look more like Christ. Faith is progressive, anyone believe something more or different from what you first learned as a child? The wheel was FULL of eyes, we should never make a move in life without faith whether big or small, easy or hard, happy or sad. Simply put we should always keep our eyes on God whatever we face and trust that He will move us in the right direction.
[Pro 3:5-6 NIV] 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Perhaps one of the earliest memory verses growing up, lean NOT on our reason and logic but NO matter what we face SUBMIT to God, He will make sure we MOVE forward and do life the right way. You know why we all struggle with this one? He said ALL of your heart. So many times my heart is divided, I love God but I have other desires or intentions. But maybe that’s the trap, maybe that’s the pretty looking car with NO wheels. Think about it, God’s desire for our life can’t be a trap so if my heart is divided then maybe I’m at fault and NOT God.
[Mar 4:19 NIV] But the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. You know what He’s saying here, don’t take the bait! We try to solve worldly worries and desires with a worldly answer…ultimately it will choke the life out of you and make you unprofitable to God. We are so much stronger than that, WE are the four faces described here and God has prepared us to live a much greater life. We are the angel with the message of righteousness to the world, we are the man which is the servant that touches humanity though mercy, the lion…well nothing hurts him, he can’t be offended and he will swallow all hurt and condemnation and declare the praises of God. And the eagle, well he’s NOT bound by this world he can mount up and see this life from a different vantage point, he can soar on the winds of faith and will only listen to the voice of God…and that’s called progress.
